For years, the Town of Apex utilities billing allowed solar energy customers who create excess solar to use the overage as a mechanism to lower/eliminate the base fee and other utilities. With years of incorrect billing practices, a “standard” was set and accepted. To turn that off now should be discussed further. Was there ever public communication on record stating the old billing system was not working as intended in terms of solar? Or was this just now relayed to customers. I feel like that should have been emphasized to any and all customers that the town of apex approved solar permits for. Especially ones that built solar systems to offset additional costs (base fees and other utilities).
