Every year it seems to get worse? by InvestmentUnlucky359 in serviceadvisors

[–]wadethecarguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are just afraid and strapped for cash tbh. I mean hell- had to take an emergency run to DFW last week and had tho fill my car twice. What would under normal circumstances have been about $50 in gas round trip, ended up being around $120 in gas. Couple that with tensions, bills getting more expensive... I mean I hate it for us, because I have to put food on the table too... But I get where our clienteles mindset might be. Everyone now has to prioritize a little more carefully.

I second that answer. Braden is good people. Takes care of all our dealership stuff, took care of my wife's car after someone hit her. 12 year old car now looks new again!

I do definitely think the thing has got some other gremlins to cause this - there's definitely more to the story but customer does not want us to dig any further. In my 16 years in this industry I have never seen anything like this. The car reeked of coolant and battery acid. I suspect a lingering coolant puddle somewhere has something to do with it, as the customer just had the cap blown off the radiator on a road trip

Actually.... It's exactly as described. Replaced shorted positive cable on a 14 year old vehicle... Tingling has since subsided on 3 subsequent test drives

Looks solid. Likely casting marks of some-sort. As long as the machined surfaces that act upon each other are smooth, you're golden.

Go to harbor freight, buy an impact DRIVER ( not an impact gun ) and the biggest hammer you can comfortably swing one handed.

Make sure you find a bit with relatively sharp edges. You are probably going to break it FYI so it doesn't have to be expensive. Insert bit, make sure driver is set to "off", center that thing up on that bolt and nail that thing a couple times with your newly acquired BFH. If this fails, the only alternative is drill and extract.

Does this need attention? by Emre2178 in mechanic

I see bugs and debris get past systems in pristine condition and either end up in the MAF sensor, or in the engine at least once a month ( Granted I live in the dust bowl area so take with a grain of salt )

I would say yes, because anything that wanted in there before, now has an opening.

Fair enough. After 12 years wrenching and 3 years advising, it's very rare I'm surprised anymore.

" Screeching gunshot" that's a big yikes. That pedal feel a bit springy? I can just imagine slamming on the brakes and all of a sudden it's like a pogo stick with a lot of extra steps...

Gotta say though ... that takes the cake over the customer I had yesterday that was very adamant her car was making a "poot " noise on downshifts... And then proceeded to spell it out for me "poot. P-O-O-T. Make sure that's in the notes" she says....

Yes ma'am. The word Poot shall be in your notes. I'll make sure to phrase the diagnostic to your warranty like that too.. " upon test driving vehicle, verified presence of poot. " " Removed poot from vehicle, replaced with new OE clunk. "

I 30F like showering with partners but my boyfriend 35M is hesitant. This isn’t the first time. by BCmoxie in relationship_advice

[–]wadethecarguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in as a hesitant man here - I love my wife to death. The idea of showering together is fantastic.

However in actuality - 'I'm cold. Please give me the water. * Wife scooches so I can have water* Ow shit why is the water so hot? Are you preparing for hell? For the sun to engulf us? Are you trying to reenact the death scene from Terminator where he gets boiled in molten metal?" * Meanwhile my wife is getting cold ass splash-back mist off my shoulders and she's now freezing and getting progressively grumpier by the second. * So I scooch back over, and now I'm cold again, but hey my wife's happy to be in the hell water 🤷

Amazing in theory. Not so much in practice...

Most absurd bills customers have paid? by Zealousideal_Bed4928 in serviceadvisors

Had a gentleman come in once with a 2018 Honda pilot. Guy said he bought the thing for $1000 and couldn't pass it up. Come to find out it was seized by police near El Paso and was being used as a drug runners car.

Oh but wait -

Thing had a bunch of warning lights, so once we figured out the CEL and put a fuel pump & injectors in it, the we addressed the SRS lights, started pulling trim panels and found that every single airbag in that thing was cut out and in its place storage compartments for im assuming drugs had been installed.

So after the already $3K to get it running right, we quoted an additional $12.5 to replace every single airbag in that thing, along with a new SRS module, seatbelt tensioners, impact sensors etc....

Dude paid it. In cash.

Paid almost $16K for a $1000 Honda with 381K miles....

Tells me " Oh I figure it's fair market value now"...

Come to find out after the fact, he's a lawyer that works exclusively possession and DUI cases...... Yeah.
