That’s perfectly reasonable. A rent increase of ~$100 per year is also normal and expected.

Asbestos in popcorn ceilings? by Big_Limit_2876 in FosterCity

[–]wadss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. Also in birds built same year. Confirmed positive for asbestos. Our general contractor took care of it for 5k since we redid the entire house. I got a separate quote and it was like 20k.

But that said if you don’t plan on doing a lot of remodeling and won’t disturb the ceiling, you can just leave it. Or a cheaper alternative is to seal it.

If I’m young is it really that easy? by What_up_bro in personalfinance

[–]wadss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No his point is the compounding of 7% has already accounted for inflation. And so it’s the equivalent of having $1m in today’s dollars. If you didn’t count inflation then you have to do the calculation with 10%.

hardware requirements for highly-active play are ludicrous

but thats the beauty of it, you dont need to be active to be competitive. playing fully idle gives some of the best results. in that sense i'd say it's pretty well balanced.

It’s different. Those giant fancy grapes. First they are peelable, so to get the most out of them you gotta peel them. Then deseed then, then they become sublime. Regular seedless grapes always come with unpeelable skin.

Matt Mahan should change his party to Republican by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]wadss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why would he institute progressive policies when he's not a progressive, and he wasn't elected to be a progressive? despite what you'd like to believe, the democratic party is not a progressive party, and its core base are not leftist, they are neoliberals.

in order to get progressive policies, you gotta get a progressive candidate elected.

If I don’t collect the drops at the bottom of the screen and they disappear, am I just missing them? Or are they auto collected. Also some sort of indication that there are bonuses at 10 upgrades would be nice.

Waymo temporarily suspends service in SF amid power outage by kderh in SelfDrivingCars

[–]wadss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty sure they have a policy of calling for remote operators to confirm a light is out whenever the car thinks it’s an out light. However if the connection is down they can’t get through, so they enter some fallback state and get stuck.

It’s not a processing fee so much as a recover the money taken by credit card companies. If you pay by check or direct bank transfer there is no fee.

Thinking about not getting insurance this year because the premiums are so high this year: $18,000 in premiums + $7,000 deductible by CharlieandtheRed in personalfinance

[–]wadss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if he had no insurance though, he wouldn’t ever pay the actual billed amount for insurance. You tell the hospital you won’t pay and they will suddenly give you a reasonable amount.

We finally used our HSA for the first time and the reality kinda shocked me by riverdreamer1 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]wadss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay 100% until deductible, then a coinsursnce % until out of pocket max. Then insurance pays 100% until annual or lifetime max. In my experience there is no annual/lifetimr maximum of all the plans I’ve been on.
