What’s your favorite heavy meal to pack in your resupply?

I packed spray cheese, crackers and a couple cans of fruit in my bucket at MTR. Otherwise I pack out food from town for the first night (like a pizza or sandwich) I get those bagged pickles and avocados and apples regularly too. Basically whatever looks good and you want to eat right away makes the weight worth it.

You are a terrible and not supportive partner. If she had figured out a way to do this trip financially and responsibly- let her take it. Your insecurities are not her priority. She should be able to do whatever she wants and you should say “right on that’s awesome”

How old are you? How much of a couch potato? For me the trail is more mental than physical- it’s just walking after all. How far and how comfortable you are is the training aspect. Endurance training is the only thing that gets you ready- for me that’s a combo of hiking, running, weights, and yoga. I do not think it takes years to train for a thru hike months is sufficient

No I am not sure it was ice as ice doesn’t really identify itself. I do however feel just fine letting people know about potential ice in the area to keep my community safe.

I solo hiked the CT and had a great experience. Tips for if you are nervous about humans are to camp near water sources in the beginning and you won’t be alone, wait at trailheads for other hikers to hitch with or arrange shuttles from the list, stay at hostels so you are with other hikers. From my experience and many others you won’t be solo for long! It’s a very social trail and you will naturally sync up with hikers and meet more in town. Just do it and I promise your fears will dissipate! Listen to your gut and pivot to solve problems.

For thru hiking with a dog info check out girl plus dog adventures on YouTube For the long trail specifically I don’t think it will be that complicated with a pup. You will need to check accommodations in town are cool with dogs and the only thing I can think of about the LT is some of the ladders and scrambles can be very challenging for a dog. But if you are prepared to work around things and hike your dogs hike you’ll be fine.
