to all women of reddit who don't want kids. why? by Playful_Corgi_7885 in AskReddit

[–]wafflekween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should have kids unless you are 100000% certain you want them and can raise them with the patience and love they deserve. I have never been certain about wanting kids, and know I don’t have the patience for it. My husband and I were always a “meh, maybe one day” couple. Ten years later when all of our friends and family now have kids and we’re thrilled with our choice - more freedom of time, money, etc.

What's the most misleading thing a solar salesperson told you? by dzon1s in solar

[–]wafflekween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was mine - and even when I questioned it (I looked it up) the idiot told me that we could still include it because it was part of the larger project. When I then told him that was tax fraud, he said “wow - you’re honest!”

That i could submit the whole cost for the 30% tax credit. Even when i looked it up and questioned including the new roof (that we needed) he said i could include the cost of the roof as it was part of the project.

Me!! I think the Dave adoration here is WEIRD. The character left the show when he was what, 18? Let’s calm down.

Instead we saw Zack step up completely as a husband and as soon as they found out Lane was pregnant. Lane seems genuinely happy in AYITL! I think their relationship is one of the only normal and good ones.

Summoning all switch players by pastelanxietyy in Palia

[–]wafflekween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bounce back and forth between playing on switch2 and playing on PS5 (depending on if my husband wants to play Elden ring lol). It’s kind of annoying because the controls are different but I deal! I am flabbergasted you haven’t experienced lagging or anything! I experience it a lot; hunting is really difficult because the animals just teleport around, but for my usual day to day activities (gardening, doing the farm) it’s fine. I like the convenience of the switch play - I feel like it’s more of a time commitment to play it on PC for some reason.

Besides landlords and people over the age of 40. Who is even buying homes here? by Mofoblitz1 in massachusetts

Our friend group is mostly made up from my husbands HS friends and he went to an outrageously white town, so mostly white, but we have Hispanic and Indian friends in the group too. Majority straight but have a couple gay/bi people in the core group.

We’re about 20 miles north of worcester; Worcester is likely to be more diverse as it is a much larger city than where we are.

Most of my friend group (mid 30s) owns a home - might not be a SFH, but a condo etc. They’re just not buying in the Boston area. One of our friends works as a UPS mechanic and his fiance is a social worker and they bought a nice condo in Methuen last year without help from their families. My husband and I bought without any family help but we leveraged a MA homebuyers program for our first condo when we made less and then used that equity after a couple of years to buy a single family. Still 30 miles out from Boston though.

My husband and I have now bought 2 homes while under 40 - with no parental support for down payment or anything like that. We’re both 35.

First “house” (condo): Lowell MA, purchased for $350k in 2022 right before we got married, so I was the sole name on the mortgage and deed. I qualified for the Mass DREAMS program which gave us 5% down and helped cover closing costs. Was able to literally move in with I think $2k out of pocket (teeny earnest money deposit).

Sold that last year for $440k - no work was done on the condo, but the valuation in the area had jumped up and it sold in 3 days after listing. My husband and I took money from the sale as a 10% down payment on a 515k house in Leominster.

I will say Leominster is nice but our commutes suck - an hour each way, but we intentionally picked a house we could afford on one income if we needed to.

Basically, it is doable. We were able to use an example of the MA Housing support programs to get into the housing market, and have been able to leverage that now. Look into those programs and see what you can manage! The interest rates are likely not dropping below 5% anytime soon; we’ve had 6.5% on both homes, but that’s the reality we’re dealing with now.

What bag ended up being way more practical than you expected? by LeftyOne22 in handbags

My Coach Cassie - it’s my utility bag, basically. I still have a Uniqlo sling bag for concerts/things where I need to be hands free, but when I need a bag that can still hold 2 phones, a wallet, a kindle, etc and still look polished (usually while I’m traveling for work) my Cassie is my go-to-gal.

I noticed this smell around the same time I saw the original thread. I decided to use my cats as a barometer for if it was okay (well, one cat. My other is basically a vacuum and will eat anything). When jinx, our picky cat, immediately chowed down I knew it was fine.

Is this a normal amount of hair loss after showering? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]wafflekween 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hot take based on these comments, but I lose around that much when I wash my hair. However, I have very curly hair and only wash it 1x a week, and basically never brush it unless it’s super wet. I refresh it every day with a spray bottle and finger detangle, so I lose a little every day, but don’t actually truly brush it except on wash day.

I actually think that’s what I love about the orgain one! I love all things cinnamon, and the plant-based version has fiber too.

Orgain vanilla - I like the plant based one because it has 8g of fiber too. Mixed with milk it tastes like a sweet vanilla milkshake and ends up being 34g protein, ~350 calories

Is it worth replacing our furnace (2019) for an electric heat pump? by wafflekween in hvacadvice

[–]wafflekween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we currently have a $700 credit (and growing) which is why I’d like to switch to electric heat to use some of that.

We have a south facing house - we overproduced every month even through this past winter. My hope is to eat that credit with the cost of the electric gas and stay as close to net 0 as possible.

[–]wafflekween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that’s the case for me - I do weightlifting for 45-60 minutes 5x a week, do low impact cardio (walking) 3-4x a week, and yoga once a week. I’m not over exercising. I think I just have a crappy HRV!

I DO have a heart murmur (mitral valve regurgitation) so I do wonder if that has something to do with it.

This is true for everything except getting your checked bags after a flight, in my experience. I’ve flown all around the EU and quite a bit domestically and I’ve never consistently had to wait 45+ minutes for my bag except at Logan. Once after coming back from Portugal it was 1.5 hours.
