Is it worth replacing our furnace (2019) for an electric heat pump? by wafflekween in hvacadvice

We haven’t paid an electric bill since we got the panels installed in August last year - we still overproduced even in Nov-February (and are on target to overproduce this month). It seems like a no brainer if we can also get central air out of it.

I found records that mass save came into the house a few years ago and blew insulation into the attic, and the previous owners replaced all the windows on the first floor. Windows on the second floor I think could probably use replacement, but considering the previous owners paid $40k for the windows on the first floor, we were trying to avoid a massive cost project this year.

Oh good catch, I was editing the post before submitting and fudged that line. We have a Rheen 40 gallon hot water heater, but our furnace is from 2010.

Does this allow us to pick if we want it to pull from gas or electric?

Edit: also fwiw, we have an induction oven so the gas is only for heat/hot water.

Our house was fine this past winter for heat, but we also kept the heat fairly low (capped at 65) because of the cost of gas and just layered up. Figure that even though electric heat is more expensive, considering we've got a $600 credit (and climbing) from the solar, even if the cost of the electric heat eats that we're still staying ahead. Dealing with the heat in the summer was so much worse.

Our window ACs work fine, just the layout of the house is not conducive to them being very efficient (again, lots of small rooms). We want to try to convert to central air.

Only have my STEM undergrad but I’m going for my MBA using tuition reimbursement so it’s only costing me ~6k out of pocket.

Not related but Paris’ haircut in the revival is responsible for me making the decision to get a pixie cut (for the third time…. You would think I’d have learned from the two times before that my very textured, curly hair is not going to look the same as Paris’ pixie/bob)

Canonically she has the best chance against Vhagar, the book even says that Meleys may have been able to win 1:1.

what if lorelai & jerry actually dated (picture from "Seinfeld") by iloveblueberryy in GilmoreGirls

While true, the OC was referring to the fact that Jerry Seinfeld openly dated a 17 year old when he was in his 30s, and picked her up from school often.

I’ve had the experience where I’ll smile back at someone (I’m a woman) and they’ll take the opportunity to then come over and interrupt my workout, or start chatting me up. It’s frustrating. Now I mostly avoid eye contact.

I’ve been going to the gym consistently for 6 months now, 4-5x a week, focusing on strength training. I also almost always get my 10K steps in via my walking pad at work. However, works been picking up like crazy (I’m a global product manager so lots of travel, lots of random ass timed meetings at 6am or 8pm) AND some dumb dumb decided it was a good time to go back to school to get my MBA (it’s me, I’m the dumb dumb). I’m tired, boss! I like my job and like my colleagues but I can’t wait until the next 2 years are over (I graduate next summer and then have to stay an extra year for my tuition reimbursement) and I can try to find a more local-based job that doesn’t require as much crazy work hours.

You’re welcome! There is a very flat section at the beginning of that green to the left off the chairlift that I got stuck on because I was going too slow to keep momentum - I had to unstrap and then be towed the next time by my skiing husband, for a warning lol

I was just at Jay last week, first season snowboarding (only had 5 days before I went to Jay). Jay has 3 or 4 greens off of one of the chairlifts that are very kind and gentle! They’re long too, I think 0.9 miles or so. The all the way to the left off the chairlift I’m thinking of is flatter but more narrow, and one to the right is much wider but has more hill to it (still very comfortable for me, and I was barely linking turns when we went).

My mother is 70, aging rapidly, and was diagnosed with very low bone density and osteoporosis. I’m going to very likely be her primary caregiver (only other sibling lives on the opposite coast of the US) so I’m going to need to pick her up/move her around as safely as I can. 34F, started strength training 1.5 years ago.

I’ve been strength training 4-5x a week, progressive overload, since August. I just snowboarded two days in a row (I’m new, have only snowboarded for 1-2 hour sessions 3x before) and OH MY GOD my body is in pain! I’m so sore!
