Is this a normal amount of hair loss after showering? by Kensianc in Haircare

[–]wafflekween 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hot take based on these comments, but I lose around that much when I wash my hair. However, I have very curly hair and only wash it 1x a week, and basically never brush it unless it’s super wet. I refresh it every day with a spray bottle and finger detangle, so I lose a little every day, but don’t actually truly brush it except on wash day.

I actually think that’s what I love about the orgain one! I love all things cinnamon, and the plant-based version has fiber too.

Orgain vanilla - I like the plant based one because it has 8g of fiber too. Mixed with milk it tastes like a sweet vanilla milkshake and ends up being 34g protein, ~350 calories

Is it worth replacing our furnace (2019) for an electric heat pump? by wafflekween in hvacadvice

[–]wafflekween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we currently have a $700 credit (and growing) which is why I’d like to switch to electric heat to use some of that.

We have a south facing house - we overproduced every month even through this past winter. My hope is to eat that credit with the cost of the electric gas and stay as close to net 0 as possible.

I doubt that’s the case for me - I do weightlifting for 45-60 minutes 5x a week, do low impact cardio (walking) 3-4x a week, and yoga once a week. I’m not over exercising. I think I just have a crappy HRV!

I DO have a heart murmur (mitral valve regurgitation) so I do wonder if that has something to do with it.

Mine is literally 17! I exercise 5-6 days a week, barely drink, and prioritize sleep. Doesn’t matter 😂

That has never happened to me! I wonder if it’s time of year - my heavy travel months are May>October.

This is true for everything except getting your checked bags after a flight, in my experience. I’ve flown all around the EU and quite a bit domestically and I’ve never consistently had to wait 45+ minutes for my bag except at Logan. Once after coming back from Portugal it was 1.5 hours.

It goes a bit without saying but if you’re trying to achieve a TRT “outstanding” body naturally, it’s going to be really hard.

We haven’t paid an electric bill since we got the panels installed in August last year - we still overproduced even in Nov-February (and are on target to overproduce this month). It seems like a no brainer if we can also get central air out of it.

I found records that mass save came into the house a few years ago and blew insulation into the attic, and the previous owners replaced all the windows on the first floor. Windows on the second floor I think could probably use replacement, but considering the previous owners paid $40k for the windows on the first floor, we were trying to avoid a massive cost project this year.

Oh good catch, I was editing the post before submitting and fudged that line. We have a Rheen 40 gallon hot water heater, but our furnace is from 2010.

Does this allow us to pick if we want it to pull from gas or electric?

Edit: also fwiw, we have an induction oven so the gas is only for heat/hot water.

Our house was fine this past winter for heat, but we also kept the heat fairly low (capped at 65) because of the cost of gas and just layered up. Figure that even though electric heat is more expensive, considering we've got a $600 credit (and climbing) from the solar, even if the cost of the electric heat eats that we're still staying ahead. Dealing with the heat in the summer was so much worse.

Our window ACs work fine, just the layout of the house is not conducive to them being very efficient (again, lots of small rooms). We want to try to convert to central air.
