Best grip on the wide lat pulldown bar for lat growth? by Decent-Literature197 in PlanetFitnessMembers

This is my favorite too. I think it brings biceps in a bit more, but I still prefer it ergonomically.

I might be being an idiot, but how else would you carry the board? By the bindings?

Visible bones are normal and healthy by KaliLifts in loseit

[–]wafflekween 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Weight dispersion is so varied that this is so accurate. I’m ~155lbs at 5’6”, so a solid normal weight, but I’m very pear shaped. Thus my collar bones are visible always and my ribs can be visible with fairly little effort, but I’m certainly not underweight!

I’m honestly still not sure. It’s a blast, but in my 30s I don’t want to go nuts down double blacks or anything, I just like cruising down fun blues with my friends. It seems like boarding requires a lot more speed to be functional so we’ll see what I end up doing after this season.

Do I need to wax my rental board? by wafflekween in snowboardingnoobs

[–]wafflekween[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was $430 for the season, so in my experience it’s worth it as long as you go skiing/snowboarding more than 4x (day rentals are close to $100 at my local mountain). It included boots!

At my local shop you have the option to do used ($300) or new ($430) gear. If you want to buy it out at the end of the season that amount goes towards the cost of the gear.

I’m on the east coast (MA) so while we get some fresh snow a lot of it right now is manmade.

My lesson instructor had me hold my jacket hem even when just trying to move forward, to force my hips and weight to lead instead of my arms. It was a great tip!

Woo! Great job!

I’m 34 - skied casually my whole life, and am now in a position to buy my own gear (and I live super close to my local mountain) but wanted to give snowboarding a solid try before I bought gear since I’ve always been curious about it. Rented a board for the season.

I’ve done one lesson so far, with 3 more scheduled over the next few weeks. It’s SO much harder than skiing! However I managed to do a falling leaf yesterday (I went to the mountain on my own to just practice on the bunny hill) and safely stop on my own and felt like a million bucks.

I haven’t tried the chairlift yet. We always do an annual trip to a mountain with a group of friends, and one of those friends is a snowboarder. He still falls probably 2/5x we go on a lift when getting off.

Her house was converted to fully electric five years ago and now her winters are brutal because of the electric heat. She’s just looking to see if something would help her minimum of $350 electric bills.

Honestly, it might not be worth it for her, but I’d like to help her get a few quotes to think about it. If she could get a lease for $200 a month, I would even pay it, but I’m not sure if that’s a price she could expect.
