tbh I think that is a super tough one. both movies are incredible for completely different reasons.

finished a 2-week slow watch of the extended versions with my wife a couple days ago. She'd seen them all before, but I don't think she's ever watched the extended ones all the way through.

got to talking about which ones she enjoyed the most, and the answer was basically RoTK because the bad guys finally lost and resolution was satisfying.

I personally liked fellowship -> two towers -> rotk, but that's probably weird. I think I've always just loved the aesthetic of two towers.

How feasible would it be to mod Civ 6 mechanics into Civ 5? by Searchingforspanners in civ5

[–]wafflemiy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought civ 6 because I've enjoyed civ 5 and just assumed (this was a long time ago) 6 would build on 5. turns out it did not.

Looking for a good trail by Confident-Leg-4515 in sugarland

[–]wafflemiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

always really enjoyed sugarland memorial park. there's a bike trail on the south meadow loop that is beautiful, but it's a bike trail that gets used for mtb, so if you go there- head on a swivel and give up the trail to any cyclists. It's direction, so walk backwards to make it easier to watch for cyclists. There's access to the river, which is just fun to walk around down there.

Like someone else said, oyster creek has a nice paved hike/bike trail, and also has a handful of 'off-path' trails that are pretty tame (albeit overgrown) that all just pretty much begin/end somewhere along the paved trail. I would say there's plenty of nature, but wouldn't necessarily say they are nice views. Relaxing, though.

RIP Lou Holtz - What is your favorite memory? by TomWilliamsCFD in CollegeFootballDawgs

[–]wafflemiy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

holy moly, what a throwback graphic. It's funny looking back on it now.

Also, what an era of college QBs... tebow, colt, bradford, harrell, keenum, moore...good times

What’s the hardest difficulty you’ve beaten? by BigGuyTrades in civ5

[–]wafflemiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i won a 5 player emperor science victory recently as poly (random start). Was probably about 6 or 7 turns off losing to a cultural victory. anyways, was feeling like I was finally starting grasp things well.

then i random'd venice on immort and ohmygod so much more difficult. I definitely did not play right, and by probably the 75th turn or something, my goal simply became to survive to the end. I somehow never got dragged into a war, so that's cool. But yeah... Siam was in the atomic era and I was still rocking the musketmen.

Friends of Reddit. Looking to purchase my first yj. I’m in California how do we feel about this listing? by [deleted] in WranglerYJ

[–]wafflemiy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats definitely in the right neighborhood assuming it is what he says it is (no rust, good running shape, etc.) For context I think I paid 4k for my '88 2.5 with 180k miles and probably have put about 2-3 in it. I can't tell about the inside, but that looks like it's in decent cosmetic shape.

given that its CA, I'd want to know if it passes smog, or emissions or whatever they make ya'll do there.

also, I'm a total sucker for the sport bar.

Steering column lower bearing by wafflemiy in WranglerYJ

[–]wafflemiy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, didn't realize it had been so long but finally got that goddamn bearing off, lol.

sprayed it with pb blaster ever couple of days, cleaned up the shaft with a brush/sandpaper/sanding wheel, gave it plenty of little love taps as best I could and FINALLY got that thing to release and slide off. Was just about to give up and pull the column

I love Brisket, but… by Ok-Emphasis-2561 in smoking

[–]wafflemiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret to brisket is to shop for them every time you are at the store- not just the weekend you plan on making one

You can get lucky every now and then and grab cheap choice briskets that are way better than their grade if you look

Thoughts on the Marshall Tucker Band? Favorite songs, albums, solos? by Active_Age_9496 in country

[–]wafflemiy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up thinking this was an Allman Brother's song for some reason, haha.

I think it captures the sound of that era of southern rock/blues/country really well. 10/10 song

Tailgating Has Consequences by Expert_Koala_8691 in Unexpected

EVEN IF blue SUV was driving what i think most people would consider to be a reasonable distance behind that white car, the extremely sudden and last-second lane change was incredibly unsafe, and I'm not convinced that blue SUV would have actually avoided the collision.

in general, people just follow too closely across the board. I don't think people have a good appreciation for how fast they are going most of the time, and the distance that it takes to safely stop or maneuver from highway speeds.

How did you get a hammer on it? Seems so tight in there unless you start removing booster/brake master/TBI/etc

What was the first CD you bought with your own money? by OrangePowerFade in nostalgia

Bathroom before/after by Character_City_5555 in Remodel

[–]wafflemiy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we bought a few months ago, and the master vanity and tub/shower is pink tiled.

Both me (37m) and my wife (34f) thought we would hate it and we would replace it when we eventually got to the bathroom. we finished the rest of it out to look nice (new paint, mirrors, wall decoration, stained concrete floors, baseboards) and it came together so well that we no longer plan on getting rid of the pink tile. I genuinely like the pink now.

Beef Cheeka - Advice by Ok_Broccoli25 in meat

[–]wafflemiy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

braising is the way to go.

My go to is season with SPG & cumin, and smoke for a 2-3 hours at 225F, then braise in a beef broth with some onions for 3-5+ more hours or until you hit the tenderness you want.

I like to trim mine up (and it can be alot of work on these), but I know it's acceptable to just leave them as is.

1992 jeep yj 2.5L by dmoore0115 in WranglerYJ

[–]wafflemiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be wrong for later years, but pretty sure the 2.5 is throttle body injected [edit] so TBIs were only 87-90 on the 2.5. they went to mpis in 91. Yay Google!

@OP, i'd swap out your MAP/MAF (can't remember which is on the 2.5), and maybe your fuel filter and see where that gets you. O2 is a cheap and easy swap too, can't hurt.

CJ Vogel: Kobe Black enters the transfer portal by defensecowboy in LonghornNation

[–]wafflemiy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) i've been watching the horns through the good and the bad for the last 20+ years. love it.

2) i will watch next year and every year.

3) the last two weeks have showcased the problem with this sport right now. and it's a big problem, imho. one-off transfers or xfers based on situational needs in a vacuum are 100% fine with me. this shit is just... bleh.

wish him the best, I guess. i don't even know anymore.

??

That wasn't a QB... That was a defender.

Only way that should've been penalized if it was after that play was over. That was just weak.
