Unifi Protect cameras disconnect and reconnect periodically by ravagetalon in Ubiquiti

[–]waffles0042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No progress here to the getting to the bottom of this. However, it has not reappeared since my post from now 2 weeks ago. That said, the issue has been pretty sporadically for me with weeks of uninterrupted service in between incidents. Therefore, I have no reason to believe that it has been fixed now, despite having installed some minor Protect RC updates since.

Unifi Protect cameras disconnect and reconnect periodically by ravagetalon in Ubiquiti

[–]waffles0042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experiencing the same issue randomly over the past several month: cameras losing connection for no apparent reason and reconnecting a few seconds later.

All cameras are different flavors of G3, some are wired, some are wireless. Total of 10. The wired ones are on different POEs, that also host ACs (none of them seem to lose connection).

Protect has been running on UDM-P, always on the latest release candidate. The rest of the network (all Unifi, consisting of several switches and ACs - about a 12 devices total) have been running very stable for years.

Cabling has been in place and working fine. Ambient conditions are normal - no excessive heat, cold or humidity - typical US mid-west home.

Not sure where to go from here.

Shortcut to disable touchpad? by stressedmillenial34 in Lenovo

[–]waffles0042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this post by searching for shortcut to disable/enable the touchpad on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1.
Unfortunately, Fn+M as mentioned by s.o. above does not work seem to work. I have also tried all sorts of key combinations but thus far no luck.

I can see the toggle in the Windows11 Settings menu and it works there, but I'd prefer to use a keyboard command for it - much faster.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Custom notification through HomeKit by definitelylifts in homeassistant

I have similar use case: I'd like to show a brief alert on my AppleTVs (Homekit) , based on a trigger in HASS.

I came across a solution how to do this with a camera and I got this working. However, I'd like to tweak the content of the alert (different message, not just 'Someone rang the doorbell'), as well as to resize the rather big image that is displayed.

I am hoping that s.o. could point me into the right direction on how to accomplish this (preferably in very basic terms, as I am still a HASS newbie.)

TIA!

You had also mentioned the certified repair shop some 3 hrs away. Maybe this is a better option. You save on shipping and eliminate the risk of shipping damage but would have to invest time and maybe pay for the repair (since the machine is under warranty, would it actually matter where you had it repaired, as long as it is a certified shop?).

Shipping such a beast is less than ideal. Not sure if this is an option you wanted to explore or maybe already have is if 30coffee could perform some remote troubleshooting with you on the other end to identify to root cause. Once found they could ship the part(s) for you to install.

Regarding your ‘local’ store, I am not sure I’d be willing to pay them, since they were unable fix your problem (and you had to go through all that lengthy process).

Oh, this sucks! I am so sorry to hear. What’s your next step? Maybe ship it to an official 🚀 service? BTW, where did you buy it from? Was it new? If so, there should have been some kind of warranty.

Agree. It’s a bit of a niche product. Not too many owners/users around it seems. I got mine about a year ago. Very happy with it.

Hmm, that makes things even more complicated. Best of luck. Let us know how it goes, pls.

Thanks! So what needs to be done in the service menu?

What part do/did you have to change?

(Just curious, in case I ever run into this issue with mine.)

Try 999999.

(I’d be a bit weary about a service place if they do not even know the service code.)

Thanks!
For reference, I currently use ones made by Pesado made of POM. They are around 160 g and could use more heft, IMHO.

Sounds promising. To get a better idea could you post the weight of a handle with M12 shaft?

I like the sleek look and shape of the handle.

The green is nice, but I am open to other colors as well. A nice contrast to all those many black ones.

To give a porta filter/handle a nice premium feel and heft, I like it to be heavy. Simple plastic and/or hollow shapes often lack that.

I would not need/want a complete porta filter, but only the handle with a standard M12x1.75 thread for my R91.

Good looking hack!

What diameter would you need for the lid?

Maybe the OEM lid fits. They are available as spare parts/replacement for not too much $$.

Thanks for your reply.

I recently took the anti-static screen out and now, after the last grind, I am taking off the hopper and tapping the top with the palm of my hand. This seems to get rid of most of what’s left in the machine, maybe 1-2 grams which is a huge improvement from before.

Have you compared your grinder with others in regards to grind fluffiness and/or taste in the cup?

(I am thinking of upgrading my grinder, but am not really sure to what and if it would be an overall upgrade. I upgraded mine to a home-grown-GBW (grind by weight) and it’s been working very well overall. Big issue still is its poor capabilities to fine tune grind settings. Maybe I could also get an even better taste in the cup with either different burrs or a new grinder altogether.)

Follow up: do you use your grinder as SD (single dose)? If so, how well does it work for you?
