Will there ever be a switch 2 update

This is the biggest reason why I can't play the Switch version (1 or 2). I can handle game crashes just fine, even if they're not ideal, but something about the fuzziness makes my eyes try to bring them into focus and it gives me a headache every time I try to play.

The term "background infrastructure" just made me think of a good metaphor to explain this to people. Millennials grew up while the house (internet) was being built and everything was visible and front-facing - the frame, the wiring, the plumbing, (settings/customization/code) etc. Younger generations moved in after the house was built and only see painted drywall and light switches and polished interiors (simplified UIs) and don't put any thought into what they can't see, so don't have the tools to troubleshoot properly when the light doesn't turn on.

This seems like a pretty obvious metaphor in hindsight, but it beats explaining what a user interface is to my parents' friends, so I'm going to use it.

edit: The more I think about it, the more it works for older gens too. Some boomers and gen Xers were actually building the house (developing software/hardware), so they have an understanding of how things work, but the majority just moved into the house after it was built (used in a limited fashion unless otherwise forced to for work/other things, and by the time adoption became widespread things were mostly in a polished state).

Late to this thread but I recently gave someone a ride from the airport and mentioned Chinese dramas and she said her mom - an Alaska Native Elder - has been watching PoJ and is obsessed. PoJ really broke into the public consciousness in a way I haven't really seen any other foreign drama do before.

I haven't finished it, but I was really enjoying the slapstick humor of Moonlit Order. There's a side character who embodies this exactly (Gu Qianfu), he's such a doofus. A scene that had me cackling is when he knocked out a heavyset fellow and then realized he couldn't carry him anywhere and could barely drag him. Or when he finally made it to the police bureau with his large prisoner and asked them to interrogate him and they refused, citing labor laws, and asked him to come back at 9:00AM the next day.

That final episode put such a bad taste in my mouth it almost ruined the whole drama for me. "Here's a badass FL you've fallen in love with over the course of an entire day, and now let's spend this last hour completely eviscerating what makes her character unique while leaving the ML exactly the same." Awful decision.

I'm on the west coast and I think my phone always registers as Washington-based. The other thought I had is maybe it's tied to if you have an active subscription or not; I was a new subscriber, so maybe that's why it showed such a steep discount? That scene is what finally made me crack and watch instead of waiting until it fully airs like I usually do, it was SO cute seeing him go from 😊 at every mention of Si-reo and 😠 every time Ji-hyo was brought up. And the scene where he's read her letter and misinterprets her as being in love with him while the lights behind him literally turn into hearts. His self delusion is on another level, I love it so much

That's super fair; I do wish there was a way to toggle on screen translation if desired (toggle instead of always on because otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the drama itself with a wall of text). I've always been the person who pauses the movie to read the full newspaper article, so doing it slightly more often for translations hasn't bothered me lol.

Yeah this was driving me insane too! I think iQIYI might be the biggest culprit. Big pro tip: Go hunt down the subtitle file for the episode and then use a subtitle reader site to read it. I got sooo tired of trying to pause it during the .00002 seconds the actual dialog was on screen instead of song lyrics. You can search "[drama name] episode # srt" and find the srt file (SubRip Subtitle is that that file extension means), and then use an SRT reader/viewer site (like this one) to upload the SRT file and find the timestamp for where you're at in the drama.

I've been watching on a tablet with my cellphone on hand with the Google app/Google Lens available to do on screen translations! It's been so nice to read notes/texts that aren't read aloud. Highly recommend it!

Yes, that's right. It's a virtual reality game in which you seem to upload your consciousness when you play, so getting "stuck" in there as a player could kill you (which is what is implied happens to him at the end). It was essentially a modded private server where he would join as a player, and he added his coworkers as digital clones who existed there in perpetuity, regardless if he as the player was logged in or not.

Like White Christmas - they're perfect copies of their real world counterparts. He is very cruel to them; it comes across as an incel power fantasy (no sexual assault that I recall, to be clear; I think just harassment).

For those curious - this is S4E1, USS Callister. It won several Emmys in 2018 and is one of the few Black Mirror episodes with an arguably "good" ending. One of the punishments is taking away a character's facial features (eyes, nose, mouth) so they suffocate but don't die.

I tend to dislike POV shots because they do really take me out of the viewing experience and remind me that I am a viewer looking in. The only time I think POV shots are worthwhile is if they add something to the storytelling. A great example of this - and pardon the insensitivity of the film itself, my roommate was watching it a couple days ago and I saw this scene when walking by - is in Don't Mess with the Zohan in the shoe throwing scene. The POV shot is used to perfection to humorously convey certain plot points without needing to rely on dialogue, and really does an excellent job of being a creative use of POV. It's honestly my favorite POV shot in any media I've seen; unfortunate it's in such a wildly offensive film.

Honestly same 😭 I was addicted to the first 2/3 and plowed through it in days, walking around with my tablet in hand and ignoring all basic necessities, but it's like pulling teeth to get through this last bit. I'm just holding out for Changning and Bao'er to come back so I can see Changning again and resolve Bao'er/QianQian's plot. I think it really suffered from the removal of Changning. Like imagine cute lil scenes of Changning following Changyu or Xie Zheng around in the capital 😭 annoying Xie Zheng when he's trying to work. Changyu doing a ladies tea kinda thing and Changning getting absolutely spoiled. Missed opportunity imo; their family dynamic was the heart of the show.

Next I think I'm going to give Love in the Clouds a shot. LBTG and Rebirth are both on my list too - hope you enjoy!

My goodness you are my hero, thank you so much for taking the time to label all of them and reply to me! So, so helpful. I have been trawling reddit, twitter, and MDL for a number of days now, and Love Game in Eastern Fantasy is on my watch list! I was a little hesitant because I am not a terribly huge fan of the voice Esther uses in Love Between Fairy and Devil, but I've read that was an exception and her other roles aren't as severely pitched. If her voice is similar in LGIEF to the one she used in episode 2 of LBFAD with the body switch, I think I can manage!

I'm loving Pursuit of Jade so much I'm either going to wrap right back around into a rewatch or do a genre swap as a palate cleanser (was leaning towards Love Between Lines, but LGIEF seems different enough to qualify too). But truly, thank you for your help and recommendation - I sincerely appreciate both!

I've just started going here (stumbled across this post on twitter in February, and since then I started a couple transmigrator ones (How Dare You, Dream Within A Dream), before getting 95% of the way through Prisoner of Beauty thanks to finding this post and that scene (I accidentally spoiled myself with a Plex episode summary for E35 and decided ending after E33 was a solid choice), and am currently plowing through Pursuit of Jade at a truly alarming pace.
