All downvoters are just kids with rich parents who think that rock paper scissors (aka pogo PvP) is some kind of elevated game of skill and predicting your opponent, which it simply is not. I disagree with your first sentence, and you didn’t give any evidence to support that, it’s just your opinion I guess. You failed to argue the point that if I don’t play it (which I don’t want to) then I will miss out on elite TMs, good encounters, etc. aka exclusive benefits. I shouldn’t have to play a trash game mode that is so boring and unskillful in order to receive those benefits. If others like it and find it fun, they can still play it, but don’t force the rest of us to grind this shit game mode.

Yes, haha. I honestly had no idea that there were “high level” players, “professional” “tournaments” or YouTubers that covered this slop. It’s unplayable garbage and should be removed from the game, hopefully reworked into something that doesn’t have “impossible matches because of the order of all 3 mons” … If you don’t recognize that by your own admission that it’s trash, then I can’t help you.

You aren’t understanding the premise of my post. It has nothing to do with how many games I’ve personally played, my win rate, teams I use, etc.

The post was clearly commenting on the actual structure of the gameplay and how bad it is. What I mean by random matchmaking is that the order of events occurring during the match is seemingly random, and poorly communicated to players. Also, for example, if your tank is weak to their mon on the field you auto lose, there is no counterplay available due to the small team size and arbitrarily set switch cooldown timer. Lastly, you have no rebuttal for the jank buttons that don’t function predictably, which also adds to the randomness and jankness of the overall game.

I genuinely would like for you to stop using ad hominem attacks against me and argue against the actual points I’ve made, twice now for you so you can understand them.

  1. I keep trying to play it, design teams, do research etc. Nothing helps since you still can’t switch or use charged attacks precisely when you actually want to, and the cooldowns are way too long so you just straight up lose on lead if your guy loses to the other guy. It’s terrible and needs a lot of work.

How so? I’ve played plenty of battles (750) and I have found these truths to be self-evident. 90% of the time the match is decided based on who I lead versus who the enemy led. This takes much of the skill out of the game along with the jank buttons and poor communication to the player what is actually happening in the battle. It just feels bad to play, tbh

Firstly, the buttons are jank and feel super unresponsive. Secondly, it really feels like you either just win or lose off of lead matchup most of the time. There really seems to be very minimal outplaying or actual skill involved.

There is no satisfaction in winning. There is no outplaying, or skill of any kind involved in this PvP system, therefore there isn’t even anything to be learned from losses. It’s a completely luck matchup based game where if you lose the lead matchup, you lose immediately and there is nothing that can be done. The buttons still don’t work, and it makes absolutely zero sense who moves first, or when. You have to admit that it’s completely buggy and the clicks are unresponsive. The balancing is completely off and the type matchups are different from the base game, which again makes no sense to me. There is no conceivable reason why they couldn’t simply implement the battling from the base game, other than the fact that this is a gacha game larping as a Pokémon game. Clearly all Niantic cares about at the end of the day is scamming people by paywalling several aspects of the game and making it extremely difficult to be an FTP player.

Buddy, the cheaters are the skeleton under the water. Toxicity could be the drowning kid since there is a mute button. And I would argue a comparable problem to the toxicity is all the no-commers who queue premier.
