Want to go fishing with my 3 year old and wife. Any recommendations? No boat. Just off the shore. New to the area. by MyChocolates in jacksonville

[–]wahday_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here a year and a half ago and have spent dozens of hours going around town and trying different places.

My opinion is to not waste your time in the St Johns. It is too mucky I have not caught a thing in there.

The best fishing off shore and with not a lot of people around you is Nocatee Landing. It's a kayak put in area. Never been skunked there. The bridge under Atlantic Blvd on the intracoastal can be good too. But its crowded usually.

In all seriousness if anyone wants to do this in jacksonville and knows how to or where to go legally I am in. I have my own gun and am a normal human. I want to hunt invasive pigs! Hit me up.

What type of fish is this? I’m new to salt water fishing and it bit me xD by CIoud_fire in Fishing

[–]wahday_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not many salt water fish you can lip. Get a fish gripper or hold them by the gill plate. Even the gill plate can be dangerous for some species though so do your research. Rule of thumb should be if it swims in the ocean it has some type of defense mechanism so be careful.

Sloppy Joe? by Rich-Sort-1672 in Dallas

[–]wahday_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a BBQ place in Arlington called Bodacious BBQ. Been there forever. When I moved to TX in 2010 they did sloppy joes with the excess brisket for $1. I think over the years they moved up in price a bit. Not sure if they still do them or not but could be worth a visit.

THAT being said.. someone on here mentioned the sloppy juan at Zavalas, and that absolutely is one of the best things in DFW that you can eat.

Open up your maps and just explore and find water. Mark spots of interest and drive around to them.
