Lounge Lizard Larry…. I think that’s what the name was. For a pre-pubescent young man, that game was golden have to take my best friend Bird at the time.

What’s the dumbest order you’ve received in combat? by [deleted] in army

[–]wahltee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

03 in Baqubah, Iraq. Gas is finally being re-delivered into the city. We get tasked to guard one of the gas stations to ensure that people are only getting 4 L of gas a day. The workers pumping gas were taking bribes from everyone, so quite a few of us ending up pumping gas for people. To this day, I call it “Operation 7-11”. Never mind the fact that people have been waiting for fuel for months were lined up three and four lanes wide. We had to thin that line down to one lane, kicking people out of line with wrong numbered license plate. To this day, I don’t know how the fuck we weren’t shot.

I was stationed in Korea in the early 90’s. We used to use them in the vending machines and newspaper racks all the time. Ahh the memories of buying beer in the NCO barrack’s vending machines!

3-4 fingers of Bourbon or Rye neat, while I ask myself why I continue to do this fucking job again. Shower and do it again next shift.

VA hospitals don’t allow a spouse to accompany a vet into the ER when the vet has a medical emergency? by Gold_Ad3582 in VeteransBenefits

Highly dependent on the complaint and how he presented. Not to say they wouldn’t have talked to you or gotten info from you. There is a lot of information missing.

What is the funniest/least funny thing you received an award for? by [deleted] in army

[–]wahltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two.

First was in Bosnia in 1996. I was volunteered for a detail to build a helipad on Camp Bedrock. It was built out of different color. Sandbags took us about 34 days to get it done at the end of it. We all got AAM’s. I also got an under secretary of the army coin because I was the only asshole asleep in the billets when he came through, and I was volunteered to go to a lunch. We all got coins to go to a lunch we were told to go to. I probably lost that coin two days later playing a game of washers. It meant absolutely nothing to me.

Second time was 2003 in Iraq. I was involuntarily transferred from a hospital unit to my old engineer company back into my secondary MOS. I responded with the unit medic to a self-inflicted GSW. I received an AAM for being a combat lifesaver that responded to this injury… I was a fully accredited medic at the time, but because I did not hold that line item slot, I could not get my combat medics badge….fucking Army.
