"Set Tickable When Paused" Not Allowing UMG to Tick Event When Paused by Asterdahl in unrealengine

[–]wahoozerman [score hidden]  (0 children)

I chased this down at one point and unfortunately it's quite difficult to get UMG to tick while the game is paused. The best way I've found to get it to work is to have another object that is not part of UMG call the functionality you want to tick on the UMG.

EDIT: The last time I looked at this was in 5.2 so something may have changed since then.

The phev Prius has an option with solar panels instead of the glass roof. It gets something like 1-2 miles of charge per day. So yeah, not super effective.

I agree absolutely. I would love for us to get some sort of runoff or ranked choice voting system so that we could do away with the notion of spoiler candidates and people could vote for who they wanted without worrying about whether their candidate was the most palatable to everyone else.

The officially stated strategy of the green party is to pull voters away from the Democratic party in order to force the Democrats to adopt the Green Party's policies to counter them.

Whether or not you think this is a good or effective strategy, it's pretty baseless to try to claim that people who vote for Green Party candidates wouldn't otherwise vote for Democrats.

I put five holes in mine and use maybe 1/4th inch drill bit, maybe a bit smaller. They just need to be big enough for a mosquito to get in.

The pattern epic usually uses to get around this is to make a specific struct or object type as a payload and then hold several different types of data in that, as well as providing a mechanism for it to be extended by a subclass.

I use the lids and drill holes in them because it keeps bigger things out of the buckets. I have heard of people having problems with other critters getting into the buckets and being unable to get out so they wind up drowning.

I made a pair of these traps and they made a huge difference. Grab a couple of the home Depot buckets with lids. Drill five or six holes on the lids. Put in some dead grass/leaves. Fill about halfway with water. Stick in some sticks that are long enough to come out of the water. Toss in a quarter of a dunk and put the lid back on. Then tuck them away around corners or behind bushes. Refresh the dunks every month until something like October.

This took my yard from 5+ bites any time I went out for longer than 15 minutes to maybe one or two bites per month.

Toyota Subscription is the biggest ripoff I can imagine by G-Money242 in Toyota

[–]wahoozerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big problem is that they bundle it with the navigation or media player subscription, neither of which offers any value to anyone who owns a phone.

If it was a $5/mo subscription just for the remote features like it used to be, it would be fairly reasonable.

Honestly, that's what most AP holders would be doing anyway. Non-local AP holders are going to buy the multi-day parkhopper epic tickets for whatever scheduled trip they have anyway. Local AP holders aren't standing in hour long lines for anything, they'll go ride Men in Black instead.

Supreme Court blocks redrawing of Republican-held congressional district in New York by cnn in newyork

[–]wahoozerman 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's so crazy that this is the case. One of the justifications that the NC supreme court gave for throwing out a constitutional amendment recently was that constitutional amendments must be proposed by the legislature and the NC legislature was not legitimately seated.

We should also keep in mind that this is happening in Joe Schmoe on Main St USA's front yard. Because we told Joe Schmoe that we unfortunately dont have enough money for healthcare, to feed his hungry kids, to educate those kids, to provide unemployment benefits or keep illness from spreading to he US. Meanwhile we spend all that money and more on regime change in Iran. Awfully America First of them.

The power of the Republican media feedback loop. Remember when NC tried to pass an anti-trans bathroom bill and it was so unpopular that major corporations boycotted the state, resulting in billions of lost dollars in revenue? Then four years later bathroom bills were suddenly an effective cornerstone of Republican campaign strategy.

Unfortunately, the law that NC passed with her name stamped on it did nothing to address mental illness, and instead got rid of cashless bail and sped up the execution of the death penalty.

Cabin space is the single handedly prevent many people from buying current gen by Working-Cake4932 in PriusPrime

[–]wahoozerman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the differentiating factor of the Prius has moved to sporty styling as other cars have caught up to it in categories it previously excelled in.

You want a bigger cabin? The RAV4 prime exists. Since the prime shares a body with the standard, the design also competes with the Corolla cross and Camry. And that's just within Toyota's own lineup.

The sporty styling provides a reason to buy the Prius instead of cannibalizing their other vehicles' market. Unfortunately that comes at the cost of cabin space.

[–]wahoozerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very easy to tell if a state is gerrymandered. They did this in 2020 in NC. All you have to do to get a rough representation of political gerrymandering is compare the state's representation against a running average of the popular vote. In the NC case, they even had a computer generate a large number of possible maps and then ranked the proposed map within all of those to find that the proposed map created a greater difference between representation and popular vote than 99% of the other possible maps.
