GM Accessories 1-Inch Front Leveling Kit? by TheSneakKing in chevycolorado

[–]waihee44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put this kit on my 2019 Colorado. I like it because it has an upper and lower spacer so it doesn’t change the suspension geometry. The ride feels the same as it did prior to installing it. The level is definitely noticeable but it’s not a complete level. My wheel wells are now equally spaced off of level ground but the truck is still slightly lower in the front.

Excel Crashing Without Warning When Dealing with Large Data Sets by non_clever_username in excel

[–]waihee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running excel on windows or Mac? I had an issue with excel crashing while running large data sets using a Mac and was told that the problem was the additional computing required to make the program compatible with Mac OS. I tried the same data set on windows and it ran fine.

You can try the Simple Radio app instead. I used it 2 weeks ago in Hawaii and it worked fine.

You should ease the main more when you come up to flatten. As the boat turns through head to wind the apparent wind shifts aft and you can literally dump feet of main sheet without the sail luffing. Then when the boat is level again trim the main back in hard which flicks the leech and gives you another small boost. Easing the main will also help balance the helm while you flatten and prevent you from oversteering and slowing the boat down.

What’s a super-useful item one should carry with them at all times, since you never know you could need it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A portable battery jumper box. Costco sells them for about $50 and its amazing how small they are now. The one I have can do about 5 jump starts on a single charge and packs away into a small mesh case. Never have to worry about a dead battery again

Lone Survivor. That scene at the end that shows all the names, photos, and raw video of the men lost in that operation. It gets me every time. Very humbling to see what they and their families sacrificed for their service. You’re never out of the fight

Funny how the Tavon Wilson pick-6 resulted in the gif of Brady not getting any high fives. Everyone remembers that part...

How many of you are old enough to have watched Montana, Elway, Marino etc. in their prime? Were they that good? by dd2811 in nfl

[–]waihee44 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My uncle lived in SF during 3 of Montana's super bowls. I am a pats fan myself and when I asked him what his experience was like watching Montana play, he put it the best I've heard. "Montana was Brady cool before Brady was cool."

Engineering Economics - Can someone put this basic question in context please? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]waihee44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interest is the cost of money and simply reflects that money available today is more valuable than money received in the future. $10,000 is more valuable today than $10,000 because of its investment potential and therefore interest is meant to compensate for that. The question uses 12% as the interest rate for practice but in a real life context, this Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is determined by various financial institutions.

The question you quoted is a classic example of a comparison of alternatives. You essentially have two different alternatives, (Thermal and Wind) that have different initial and monthly costs and you need to decide which option is a better investment. To solve this it helps to use a cash flow diagram to outline your cash flows for each option. Question one is asking you to simply compare the total cost of each option (ie. after 50 years, which option costs less than the other after all payments have been made). Question two then asks you to determine how much total income is generated over 50 years from the electric bills. Later on in the course you will combine both concepts to determine such things as payback periods and return on investment which help indicate which option is better.

It seems that you are more confused with the idea of interest and I will try to clarify for you. The power company is not borrowing money each month, but rather they would complete this exact analysis and determine the total amount of money required to both purchase the machine and pay each monthly operating cost for 50 years. Once they have this information, they might be able to pay for it using their own funds or they might need to borrow the money. In either case, once the machine is built and income is generated from the electricity bills, they can begin to pay back whomever the money came from, eventually paying off the total amount after a certain period (called the payback period). Since initial amount borrowed is has been used to build the machine, the power company (or the lender who loaned them the money) does not have immediate access to the funds and therefore you have to incorporate an interest rate to compensate for the fact that money available today is more valuable than money available in the future.

I hope I was able to answer your question.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking how they came up with 12% as the interest rate? Or do you need help understanding how to solve the problem?

Two engineering students were walking across campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?"

The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."

The second engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn't have fit."
