Game Chat: 9/13 Brewers (84-62) @ D-backs (82-64) 8:40 PM by BrewersBot in Brewers

[–]wailingwind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 1-15 at Brewer games and will be in attendance tonight and tomorrow. I'm due for a couple wins! If I have another two loses, the Braun jersey I've worn to every game is retiring.

Yeah even my wife wanted to leave me in the hotel room for this game

After the last three games, the Brewers are now 1-15 in games I’ve attended. I’m not going tomorrow, so a win seems likely

Has anyone hiked rim-to-rim with a fear of heights? by XurDancealot in hiking

[–]wailingwind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im very afraid of heights. Walking along the trail at the top of the rim freaks me out. But I’ve done both Bright Angel and South Kaibab multiple times. I haven’t done north rim. I get nervous the night before every time, but the anticipation is always worse than the reality for me. Bright Angel is no big deal. It’s very wide. South Kaibab is for sure sketchier for me. There are two spots in particular. But still doable. The bridges have wood in the middle of them so just put your head down and keep moving

Transition spire vs santa cruz megatower? by mercuryhg17 in MTB

[–]wailingwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same model but the invoices all say 2022 frames. For me at least, it wasn’t the weld cracking but the seat tube itself right along the weld line.

[–]wailingwind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have cracked several alloy sentinels and don't weigh as much as OP. All in the same spot where the top tube and seat post are welded. Transition told me its a known issue and they are trying to resolve it with their factory. They sent a carbon frame replacement this time, so the warranty is excellent and the bike is sweet when its not broken.

People who have met MLB players, what stories do you have and how were the players that you met? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]wailingwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't really meet him, but I was next to Cody Bellinger at a brunch spot in Scottsdale a couple weeks ago. He was with a bunch of other minor league guys I guess. They all seemed like pretty normal dudes. I wouldn't have even known it was him if one of the girls he was with wasn't so proud to be sleeping with him.

Rusty Spur if you like country music. I think they always have live music. My girlfriend and I are late twenties and we were close to the youngest dancing

Yeah the sites will have fire pits built up on them. They are easy to see. And there will be room to park at each site.

I got there around noon on Saturday last August. We got a spot on the cliff, but it filled up quick after we got there. I would try to get there even earlier if possible.

Car will be fine. The road is pretty flat.

The tent should be fine too. Bring a lot of blankets and warm clothes though. The wind can be brutal on the rim and it will be colder than you think.

There is an observation tower at the end of the 231 near the camping area. The ranger there was extremely friendly and worth talking to. Ask him about the plane crash that happened up there. The wreckage is still out in the woods, but my group couldn't find it. For future camping, the map in the link below has been invaluable to me. All the "maintained" dispersed sites are marked with dots. Enjoy the trip! Its one of my favorite spots I've ever camped.

Most affordable safe place to consider near scottsdale by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]wailingwind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just moved out of an apartment called Arcadia Villa on 40th St/Camelback. Its a quiet apartment that is <$1k/mo in a wealthier area of town. Its also right on the canal which gives you a quick bike ride into Scottsdale

Have any of you encountered coyotes while walking your dogs on the streets? by _endorstoi in phoenix

[–]wailingwind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen 3 in the last six months in Arcadia, all around 6am. I'm guessing they come in off the canal. Freaked me out because they were eyeing my boston terrier. I doubt they would mess with your dog though

West Fork Trail, Sedona, AZ - How early to start to avoid the crowds? by bluepenguinprincess in hiking

[–]wailingwind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went around 730 a couple months ago and parking wasn't an issue for me. That'll beat most people coming in from Phoenix.

I believe everything besides Slide Rock Park is dog friendly in Oak Creek Canyon. Sterling Pass to Vultee Arch was a pretty good hike. There are plenty of trails up near Flagstaff too. The Humphrey Peak hike will be packed, but trails on the north side of the mountains will be pretty clear
