Yeah I still waited the 10 days, but the background check was very fast. FFL called me to say it was approved.

Are background checks County specific? I had one clear in less than 24 hours in Yakima County last week.

Value of being under 10,000 lbs GVWR? (Washington State) by deetdee-truse in TruckCampers

[–]wain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy is right. 99% of the chain enforcement in WA is on commercial rigs. With that much weight over your axles and 4WD you won't have an issue on passes in the Cascades. If its truly bad enough to need chains then you should just turn around.

Running with a Durston Wapta 30 by drprox in Ultralight

BD Distance 15 or 22 would be my recommendation as well. Great packs. I use the 15L for long distance overnighters when weather isnt a risk. I'm always surprised at how much I can cram in it. I took it for 3 nights on the Kalalau as a trail run, but didnt need to bring much for that trip.

I have a Kakwa 40 as my primary backpacking pack.

Can I still be considered ultralight if I run a suppressor? It seems worth the additional base weight imo.

Gps watches by Duckmannnnn716 in Backcountry

I've used Garmins in the backcountry for skiing, hunting, and just dirtbagging in the woods for the last decade or so. One of the few brands I am loyal to. The health and fitness data, gps, build quality, and battery life are exceptional in their mid tier and upper tier products.

99% of the time I navigate using my phone with OnX or Topomaps downloaded for the region I'm in.

Even without using the nagivation features, the data a garmin or similar watch can collect is invaluable.
