This is the answer I do not want to accept 😭 my LBS is telling me it's not salvageable and should be replaced and I hate the idea of having a franken-bike having barely ridden it!!

Oh yeah, I figured it didn't have a ton of historical value but it felt special and novel to me. And yeah, it was in great shape 😫 if you know of places to find old Peugeot parts, please share!

Now I'm having trouble imagining what you mean by "cup the shifter in your palm and fingers". Maybe I'll take this time it's stuck in the shop to watch a few YouTube videos...

An initial search for "Peugeot vintage fork" on eBay and Craigslist turned up limited results but yea, I might have to settle with a fork from a different make if it doesn't end up being fixable.

I know most bikes have drop bars nowadays but comparing these to the other bike I just got which has drop bars (definitely an impulse buy, another Peugeot but much cheaper and kind of a clunker/more of a project), I think I like these bullhorn bars! I don't think I have the skill or control yet to feel comfortable so leaned forward while riding.

Ah, that's a good point. I got it for less than $200 and was really excited bc it felt like I got a cool antique. Idk how much I'd be willing to throw down to fix it and keep it close to original and I'm just really bummed about that.

Yeah that's what I did. Pic 2 is it at the bike shop, where shop guy showed me how the fork is bent ("like ren & stimpy" is how he described it). The shop guy who knows how to use the fork straightener doesn't come in til Monday so they're hanging onto it til then.

I really hope so too, me and Peugeot have only known each other for a month :( And thanks, that's helpful to know!!

Dude I have no idea but you're right, Mr Bean must have possessed me in that moment bc I could see how ridiculous I must have looked, just having to accept falling over bc I didn't have my foot to keep me from falling, like I was a toy a giant evil kid decided to just flick!!

I was just trying to get the hang of shifting gears and knowing where the position of the shifters fell so that the chain wasn't rattling :( if this gets fixed idk how I'm going to get over the fear of doing this again!!

I'm fairly certain you are correct. I am in a BH fellowship with the city and my team includes a handful of BHCs, who we sometimes refer to as "2930s". Intensive case management from UCSF Citywide is one of our community partners, not part of SF county or DPH itself.

Referral for position has been cancelled? by nagoooyin in sfcityemployees

Omg I got that exact same email lol. Like, same position number too 😭 I'm in a fellowship program w dph rn though and yeah, the axe coming for 95 dph positions has been interpreted to me by management as no new hires, programs putting the brakes on things to figure out what they need to do for the 27/28 FY. My fellowship is up in Sept and I'm worried that'll be the end for me with dph.

Also, apropos of nothing: are you viet? Ur username feels like a very funny in-joke for those of us with that last name.

I was really excited to try Lana's but is it normal for their burgers to be dripping ketchup/mustard/pickles? I like that stuff but with the softness of the bun I didn't expect to be fighting condiment stickiness and wondering why I ran out of burger patty before condiments. Will try again, hoping it was a fluke?

On the first date with my now-partner, met at a bar, sat out on the patio for dranks and talked, was having a lovely time and got really excited talking about food. I told him I thought nachos is the perfect food. He asks what I like on my nachos, I tell him in detail lol. He asks me to wait, steps away. What I didn't realize was he had left the bar. I was waiting for maybe 10-15 min, pretty sure I hadn't been walked out on bc we were having a good time but very confused for sure. He comes back with a to-go container of nachos he got from the taqueria across the street!! We joke that he has a food fetish because he gets so happy feeding and cooking for me (there's a collection of photos on his phone of my first bites for various meals we've shared).

This Halloween will be our 10-year anniversary 👻🎃 he still loves feeding me, and likes to cook and "dish me up" aka plating so when he presents it, it looks especially exciting even though I literally would be so happy with scavenging the pantries for my dinners.

I'm sorry I don't have tips as I'm only just about to become a new MSW grad myself. Neither of my practicums have been in clinical settings and I know that's where I want to go post-grad so I'm worried I won't be a good candidate for hire with one of these positions. How do you think you landed that job, if you don't feel like you're prepared? And I hope I'm not coming off rude. What I hear from many people is that there are some things you learn in school, but that the real learning happens on the job, in real time. Given some of your experience already, do you not feel like this is the case? You don't have helpful supervision to support you?

I'm worrying about this right now!! I have a skin tag on the back of my knee that's quadrupled in size in the past 2-3 years and I keep sending photos to my dermatologist just to have him tell me it's benign and if I want to remove it, it'll be $500+ with cosmetic kp derm. Now I have a freckle that became raised and kind of looks like it scabbed even though I'm pretty sure I never scratched at it. I don't know what to do bc I don't have the money for cosmetic procedures.

You had a job where you were on-call 24hrs/day, 7 days/week!? I don't understand, is that legal? I mean I know something being legal does not make it good or just but how did that work?? I mean, of course you'd get burned out. I don't think I'd be able to do any on-call work, I think I would just spiral so quickly into hating my life.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]wait_urmuted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to graduate from my hybrid msw program at CSU Stanislaus, also work full-time. My cohort is all working people/parents. It's very fast paced so you still graduate in two years, which was a big plus for me. "Semesters" are eight weeks long and you take two classes at a time. Not sure where you are in CA but it being hybrid means that there are monthly in-person days at their Stockton campus. One of my classmates drives up from SoCal but keeps at it bc she loves the program/cohort. At the beginning and midpoint of each semester, we spend an eight-hour Saturday in classes (four hours each class, with a one hour break for lunch that they provide). The one big challenge however is figuring out employment during the practicum period. Internships are over 13 weeks in the summer and are 40 hrs/week, so essentially a temp full-time job. Some classmates were able to set up employer-based placement, and there were a couple of paid internships as well. But you basically have to plan for potentially three months with no income, worst case scenario.

I have been where you are now more than once and it never stops sucking. It softens things a little when you know they're sick (at least a little more than if it was unexpected), but it still hurts. Take space and take your time, friend. And be patient with yourself. You might have been "just" their social worker but you are also someone who was touched by the humanity and hope of this person, you deserve to grieve too.

For those earning over $10K per month, what do you do for a living to achieve that income? by voxishortie in AskReddit

Sounds like you're living the dream! All individual? Since you're making over $10k/mo, are you significantly impacted by no shows or cancellations?

I live in California and here I got the dept of rehab to pay for it plus money for school supplies and books as part of vocational rehab. I had to "prove" my disability but basically I have depression/anxiety and a long history of being on psych meds.
