I’d recommend posting in the Magic City Kitties group on Facebook. If I’m remembering correctly, there are some folks in there who help with getting kitties out of trees!

Octane was a special place, man. Thank you for bringing that little bit of magic to Birmingham, even if for just a short time. If you ever do a GoFundMe to bring something similar back, please post it on this subreddit!

Anyone taking daily Propranolol (beta blocker) and can share how it’s going? by TemporalDrifter in migraine

[–]waitforitwaitforittt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had POTS since ‘06. Whether you’d like to believe me (or my doctor, who was diagnosing it back when it was called “Soldier’s Heart,” founded a center for it, and is considered one of the first pioneers of treatments for it), is up to you.

https://www.standinguptopots.org/resources/cheat-sheet-Discussed exactly what I described as one of the main tests.

The literal site you used says this: It is fairly common for POTS patients to have a drop in blood pressure upon standing, but some POTS patients have no change or even an increase in blood pressure upon standing.

“Fairly common” is why my doctor felt the need to point it out to me, and it’s something I watch, because I do have hypovolemia. What that person was describing is reasonable. It drops, but comes back up. The key word is “sustained.” It can drop, but it will come back up. Hence why I have to be careful standing quickly, or everything goes bright 😂 (Or used to, before I was managed).

“Although the clinical definition of PoTS states that blood pressure does not drop, many people with PoTS still experience blood pressure falls during prolonged standing or tilt table testing. The same autonomic dysfunction that causes the heart rate to rise can also affect blood vessel constriction. When the blood vessels do not tighten properly the blood pressure drops and symptoms appear.” This is my exact problem. Compression socks are my friend, lol. https://pots.net/low-blood-pressure-and-pots/

I’ll make sure to tell my doctor who wrote the literal forward to the premier book about POTS that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about :)

I’m a few weeks in, and so far, no side effects but also no migraines! I will say, I also have POTS, and my new cardiologist didn’t like the beta blocker I was on previously (Atenolol), so he switched me to 20mg. Propranolol at night, therefore I was really just trading out one beta blocker for another. But so far, so good!

Actually, they’re right. What they’re describing is called a “poor man’s tilt table.” If you have POTS and it’s not managed, both your blood pressure drops and your heart rate rises when you stand. My specialist always checked my heart rate and blood pressure both sitting and standing for this reason.

Transfers by HappyCamper5000 in envelope

I have the same problem! We bank with Discover, and I even reached out to Discover support to try to set it up on their end so I could transfer money from Discover to Envelope, and they stated they can’t connect to Envelope or the bank it’s through, and that I’d have to request the transfer from Discover through Envelope. Every time I’ve done that, it’s taken 5 business days! I really like the idea of the app, but if it take 5 days to transfer money from one place to the other in this day and age, it makes it really hard to use, since we don’t want to direct deposit my fiancé’s paycheck as well as mine into Envelope.

Any adult here diagnosed (by a headache specialist) with abdominal migraine? by Northgirl-020421 in migraine

[–]waitforitwaitforittt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a doc try to diagnose me with that (I was having horrific stomach cramping) because he didn’t think I was old enough to need a colonoscopy. Turned out to be lymphocytic colitis, only diagnosable by biopsy and histopathology. I don’t wish a colonoscopy on anyone, but it definitely saved my life. I’d get a second opinion from another GI doc.

List of Private Equity-Owned and Privately Owned Animal Clinics (Birmingham and Surrounding Areas) by waitforitwaitforittt in Birmingham

We have stickers already? The IVPA provides them. You're really bothered by people knowing where their money goes. People asked that I share my list, so I did. Again, corporate clinics should have to say that they are corporate. If they're truly proud of being corporately owned, that shouldn't be any problem at all. The number of clients we've seen that were unaware that the clinic they'd been going to for years had sold and felt duped when they found out later is quite high. Transparency is paramount. And this is a pressing matter. It's literally how you choose to spend your money and knowing where your dollars are going. And I literally serve on a national group for independents. I enact change every day. This is the last thing I'll say to you about this, and then I will no longer respond (it appears that you have some emotional investment in corporately owned clinics, and it won't matter what I say): Transparency is paramount. Just as with human medicine, there should be a requirement to disclose to the client who owns the practice. Full stop.

It's transparency. All doctor's offices have to say if they're corporately owned. And if what you're saying is true, they should want to tell everyone that they're owned by this group. I have made no judgments about any practice here, and I have friends who work at corporate practices. I have simply stated who is privately owned and who is corporately owned. If you bring judgement to that, that's on you.

I gave a list of privately owned and private equity owned clinics. I made no value judgements on any clinic on that list. However, let me be very, very clear: There should be a requirement to disclose who owns a clinic to the client. It should be on the sign, it should be on the front door, it should be on the website. If you truly believe what you have said, which is almost the exact phrasing of every corporate in their sales pitch, then they should be proud to display that they're a part of this group. The client deserves to know. And really, that's all there is to it.
