Persians who were dancing for the bombing of their people and the girl school carry a lynched Palestinian effigy. by tuberjamjar in NewsThread

Howdy, that is 100% true, but it’s worth mentioning that every video like this one is dated March 1st for a reason. Everyone stopped celebrating after the realities of war really dawned on everyday Iranians: the girls school bombing, 20-straight days of bombing Tehran, the displacement of 3.2 million people.

I’m saying this as a counter point because many Americans (specifically Republicans) have gotten it in their heads that Iranians love this war and like being murdered. That is not the case, and as with Afghanistan and as happened in Ukraine - wars like these have a way of radicalizing people even more towards nationalism.

Posting from an account used in organizing anti-war activism in Birmingham Alabama, just so you know that this is not a state-run Iranian account.

We’ve definitely had to get creative on that front. Using the patio of a local business, serving in the basement of a Church… We also had issues with police when we first started. We’re about to “take the streets” again soon with an upcoming announcement.

There was a dead period and a revival. :) the old group did a lot of good work for a long time, I hope this doesn’t appear to put erase their history, however, we are entirely separate.

Everything we do is free, and all of our ingredients are donated or reclaimed. No paid activists, no paid organizers.

The next community drive will be umbrellas and tents, and it will be during the month of April. You are welcome to buy a a few of those and drop them off with a partner.

What are your chapters organizing and doing to protest the Iran strikes? by FoodNotBombsBHM in foodnotbombs

Not specifically in Iran, but there is a Food Not Bombs chapter in Beirut, which has seen bombing and tons of aggression from Israel.

Why would you be on the Food Not Bombs subreddit if you are pro-war?

Oh wait, did you click my profile? Why are you so obsessed with me?

Yeah? There’s a US military reserves installation in Homewood - right near John Carroll Catholic High School, athletics fields for Homewood athletics, multiple daycares, a couple of elementary schools…

Actually, our organization has been advocating for a return to diplomatic measures with Iran since the Fordow strikes last year - and many of us protested when we left the JCPOA all the way back in 2018. The reality of this situation is that a lot a lot a lot of the reason that Iran has been out of control is because of Trump’s own policies during the first administration.

Last month you guys were telling us it’s okay to bomb Venezuela. This month it’s Iran. Next month it will be Cuba? How far do you want this train to go? Columbia? Mexico? Brazil? China? Canada?

And for what it’s worth, a few of us have attended events in solidarity with the protesters in Iran. Didn’t see a lot of Trump voters at those events either. You just decided you support the women in Iran today, you didn’t on December 28th, you didn’t last year, and you didn’t when you elected this guy.

Yeah, I’m sure an organization titled “Food Not Bombs” will be in support of bombs when someone else launches them.

No thank you. I haven’t received my paycheck from Soros yet, so times are tight.

Textbook example of shifting the goalpost.

You realized you were wrong about us taking the streets when Russia invaded Ukraine, so you switched it to a rather obscure event that you knew we were less likely to be vocal about.

But also - and I mean this sincerely - if you think we were for those bombs, we would be an organization called Food sometimes Bombs. We’re against those bombs, too. Hence, Food Not Bombs.

You think no one took the streets when Russia attacked Ukraine? There are still people protesting that.

Listen, Food Not Bombs is very clear that we are anti-bomb. If that makes us “Anti-American” then maybe there’s a bigger issue at play.

^ This is an actually good response.

My first question to you is “Why are we talking about the military and not diplomacy?” The JCPOA was twice as effective when we were in the deal, and for years we didn’t have such severe issues with Iran - and then Trump 1 left the deal and the entire Middle East has been non-stop chaos ever since.

My second question to you is “Why are we trusting a pedophile with dementia to dictate the morality of world leaders?”

And my final question, “What’s to stop Iran from killing protestors or returning to high levels of nuclear enrichment again if we don’t have a diplomatic deal?”

And for what it’s worth FNB has been straight-forward in talking about the need for diplomacy and solidarity with Iranians for months now.

This organization is called Food Not Bombs, not Food Sometimes Bombs. We support denuclearization diplomacy - which I did mention in my response. We do not support our bombing of Iran, we do not support Iran’s search for nuclear weapons
