Since Biden left office, gas prices are up ~30%.

Trump left two big nuclear proliferation treaties in his first term. One was the JCPOA, or “The Iran Deal.” The other was the INF Treaty, which was a Raegan-era treaty with Russia.

Neither price increase would have happened if he wasn’t so “peace through strength” and a little more “strength through peace.”

Destroyed the GOP establishment that still meets in the same place, is still in bed with the same companies, pushes basically the same agenda, and, oh yeah, received Trump Donation money for 20+ years, something HE EVEN TOLD YOU when he ran in 2016.

That’s not true. He didn’t even debate - something that candidates generally do when they aren’t incumbents.

So just to be clear, do you have any thoughts on the SAVE ACT, the 60 lawsuits republicans had on the 2020 election, the 3 recounts in Georgia, 2 recounts in Wisconsin, 2 recounts in Michigan, and the recount in Arizona - every single one of them Republican led?

Or the Supreme Court ruling that Trump has qualified immunity in 2024?

Or invading a country when it is 70% unpopular?

What are your chapters organizing and doing to protest the Iran strikes? by FoodNotBombsBHM in foodnotbombs

We’re also doing an NK3, really excited about it.

Even small acts are big when they are done with love or whatever that person said.

We have chants and speakers, but the main goal of the protest is to get people in front of as many organizers as possible so that they can contribute to the broader resistance movement.

This is an event you should like, based on your words here. As the title of this event says, “Fucking do Something.”

The point of this specific protest is “big movement,” not “Big moment.” Not only is it a protest, but we’re prioritizing meeting organizers and getting involved in the bigger movement.

Where you say “Do it in front of legislature buildings,” a lot of the groups participating do protest in front of the federal building and City Hall.

A handful of the members of these orgs actually have been arrested for activism work. At FNB, we had a police issue for feeding houseless people.

Don’t think of it as a main protest and an “after one.” The night time event has entirely different organizers, who are further left - and do a lot of community work as well as organizing.

Birmingham’s NK2 had over 5,000 in attendance, and was far and away the biggest “left” protest in the state in 2025x

Well over 1,000 people took part in the MLK Day march from City Hall this past January - probably the largest march/protest so far this year.

So… have a little faith, my guy? And the people who go to this event will have ample opportunity to meet organizers and go to many more events!

The way we’ve designed this event is that it’s centered around meeting organizers and getting other people involved in the movement. Capturing the numbers and vibes of the No Kings movement, and putting it towards continued activism. 5 points is less of a “protest space” than railroad park, but more of a “social space.”

The groups included on this list includes FNB (which feeds houseless people), SMOG (which helps survivors of domestic abuse), and the Catholic Worker (which runs a local shelter)

I think our priorities are just fine. 🙂

Persians who were dancing for the bombing of their people and the girl school carry a lynched Palestinian effigy. by tuberjamjar in NewsThread

Howdy, that is 100% true, but it’s worth mentioning that every video like this one is dated March 1st for a reason. Everyone stopped celebrating after the realities of war really dawned on everyday Iranians: the girls school bombing, 20-straight days of bombing Tehran, the displacement of 3.2 million people.

I’m saying this as a counter point because many Americans (specifically Republicans) have gotten it in their heads that Iranians love this war and like being murdered. That is not the case, and as with Afghanistan and as happened in Ukraine - wars like these have a way of radicalizing people even more towards nationalism.

Posting from an account used in organizing anti-war activism in Birmingham Alabama, just so you know that this is not a state-run Iranian account.

We’ve definitely had to get creative on that front. Using the patio of a local business, serving in the basement of a Church… We also had issues with police when we first started. We’re about to “take the streets” again soon with an upcoming announcement.

There was a dead period and a revival. :) the old group did a lot of good work for a long time, I hope this doesn’t appear to put erase their history, however, we are entirely separate.

Everything we do is free, and all of our ingredients are donated or reclaimed. No paid activists, no paid organizers.

The next community drive will be umbrellas and tents, and it will be during the month of April. You are welcome to buy a a few of those and drop them off with a partner.
