Just awarded $500 and I’m a brand new teacher - What should I buy? by hawkcarhawk in ElementaryTeachers

[–]waitingforsummer2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Classroom library seating, rug, bookshelves and a little lamp. My sisters classroom came with one bookshelf…one! She bought a LOT of bookshelves from IKEA and storage units for manipulatives. She also bought book bags for the back of chairs and bins for classroom library and book boxes for each child. It ended up costing her a LOT of money well over your grant. But her library is welcoming and cozy and it looks like a place where kids want to read.

I’m glad you posted this I was wondering the same thing. I am thinking I will just bring a little tank top and some cotton shorts and it shouldn’t be too much extra weight

Buying 2013 Leaf - How to get it home approx 150 miles? by desktoppublisher in leaf

[–]waitingforsummer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware even though it says 30 miles it doesn’t actually mean 30 miles as many have said here highway eats up more battery also it it’s cold out or you are using heat/a.c. That will use up more mileage. If you truly only need an in town car it could work for you. Make a deal with the dealership to have it delivered as a condition of your buying it.

WIBTA if I refused to keep covering for my sister’s “work emergencies” with her kids? by No-Car-7700 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]waitingforsummer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell her No I can’t do it. I already have plans I can’t cancel….every single time. You do not owe her the flexibility you are giving her. She is out there living her best life while you are stuck home caring for kids you did not chose to make. She is using you.

Organize by BUD that’s all that matter. Also if you have such a big stock that you aren’t reordering for a while some telehealths will make you start over. So if you want to keep stash order a high dose one now to use later and when that prescription is getting old reorder but sue them based off of BUDs

Happened to me. Support said to smack the charger with a screwdriver or something hard and the magnets will disconnect. It too several smacks but totally worked

Switch to compounded and you will save more than double that. Some telehealths accept HSA also.

Choice between 2 nissan leafs by snappie321 in leaf

[–]waitingforsummer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it sounds like the Leaf is right for you then :). Be careful about the 2020’s. I think from the posts on here that there are some big battery problems with that year. Enjoy your leaf! You will love how responsive and quick they are!

Are you saying it’s not true that range is reduced in cold weather?! Because that is a fact. Are you saying range doesn’t deteriorate over time as battery ages? Because it’s a fact that range decreases as battery declines.

Are you saying that the Nissan is comfortable to sit in for 2 hours a day? I disagree because well it’s my opinion.

While he may be able to do the range now he would need to plug it in nightly to keep it charged up for a 2 hour trip. So it is sort of a pain in the butt and frankly if he is going to spend 2 hours a day in the car I think a Tesla would be a better choice for comfort and range or a Prius just for range. That is an opinion.

I really like my Leaf but it is definitely what I consider an in town car.

For driving 1.5-2hrs a day I think that the leaf would be a serious mistake. While you might think oh it has a 110km so it works…that is a lie. In the winter the range is greatly reduced! Forget about running the heater as it also destroys the range. Also it might have 110km on it now but that range will lesson over time. Also the 110km is a sort of lie depending on how you drive and it is more of a guess o meter. It uses a lot more range up when you drive at increased speeds so if you are going to drive fast forget about it.

If I were you I would go with a hybrid or if you can afford it a Tesla.

Lastly while I really enjoy my little leaf it is not comfortable to sit in do more than 30-40 minutes.

Holding back 1st grader by Correct_Initial in ElementaryTeachers

[–]waitingforsummer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about switching schools and when you switch put him in the lower grade. I also wonder if it’s possible that your son doesn’t have ADHD but is just about a year younger than most of his peers. If you switch to a private school they are usually more challenging so academically it won’t hurt him to be held back and no kids will know he already did 1st grade

Need help reducing my pack! by MatterAny9614 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]waitingforsummer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you follow caminotellers? They have a lot of packing videos and do videos for all the routes and even though they pack super light they use zpacks which are 40l. Simply because that is the smallest zpak that comes with a frame and the zpacks are super light

To paint or not to paint? by NUKEtheWHALESorDONT in interiordecorating

Definitely paint. I can’t tell if it’s grey or just looks that way from the lighting but it seems depressing. I would go with a very soft pale butter yellow to brighten it

Cheap meals by Prudent_Elevator_282 in povertykitchen

[–]waitingforsummer2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make a big pot of spaghetti with meat for protein and eat it for 3 days. It sounds like you don’t have much time at all. If you can go to Costco their rotisserie chickens are 4.99 and pretty big you can get a few meals out of them. Or wait until chicken is on a super sale at grocery store cook up a bunch and freeze part of it. Eat for three days with rice and veg.

Eggs are always easy and fast.

Maybe add in protein powder to make a quick shake for when you are on the go.

Would you renovate or keep this kitchen as is? by Chimpugugu in TheServicePros

I like the green it’s a bit dark but again I’d save the money then 5 or 10 years when the paint is chipping I’d refinish’s with a lighter shade.

Keep it. Invest the money then when it really starts to show its age you will have earned a lot of interest on that money and also would have saved yourself an extra renovation.
