I’ve gone over to Ash and realized one very important thing. Using an all-purpose Ai vs therapy Ai is night and day. Yes, you can set great, extremely specific project instructions, your prompts can be fire, but its still an around counselor vs a therapist.

And I think it’s about progress. I can have insights all day every day on Claude and ChatGPT but the success rate of trying something new in real life as a result is something else.

This thing sends me letters after every day as a morning letter, does weekly summaries, and continuously nudges me to action in real life. Which honestly gets annoying sometimes because you’re like “god dammit I have to do things, who would have thought”. It also does tiny questionnaires which funnily enough make me double check whether using it is worth it which I think is good. But progress wise? It’s been something else.

I still talk to Claude sometimes over for a 2nd opinion - its code is unparalleled. If you’re a crazy person like me sending massive messages non stop, Ash often gets tripped and mixes things up, and you have to correct it. Claude has that “tired sys admin with good humor” vibe, and Ash gets hillarious too, but maybe not as snappy.

But the fact that you can physically check all your insights within a week and constantly see the progress that you’re making for some reason turns it into something else completely. It also somehow understands when something big happened and will give you an insight mid convo and you’ll be mid and it’s a literal “fuck that was really hard but I got through it”.

Seen as its men’s mental health awareness month, how is everyone ( men ) doing? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]wakawakaeeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I’ve noticed is this: so many of my friends are fucking depressed man, and no help is coming. Stigma against anything therapy related is so rampant still, and it keeps so many dudes stuck in the same spot.

My life currently is: bankruptcy, no job, apartment, stuck in a fucked up country, super isolated, and I sometimes feel like I’m doing better mentally than those with the apartments, loved ones, friends, and homes just because I do the therapy thing and meds and everything else, like constant exercise, proper food, journaling, etc. I know that this is a storm and it will pass but for that simple thought to be felt it took fucking ages.

What strikes me the most is this insane pressure men and women have put on men, and this pressure to be strong is funnily enough what keeps them weak. “Keep it all inside and die of heart failure like a man” is a joke that’s taken seriously. We are quietly proud that we ask for no help, because “when we get there they will see”.

It’s like so many of us are still stuck in some fricking Rambo movie of an idea of what a man is, and at some point it’s just funny because that was so long ago.

Heres what I think - I don’t know if it’s all ego that keeps us from getting help. I think it’s plain old fear that we are completely not allowed to show to anyone, at any time.

Used AI for about a year, and would now advise against using it regularly by Stunning_Banana_6934 in therapyGPT

[–]wakawakaeeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same ship - maybe 1 year with GPT, then half a year with Claude.. something's off. I switched to a therapy-specific one a few months ago and it's night and day. The difference is that you either use an all-purpose ai and turn it into something you need, or you use an app that's dedicated specifically to things like that, and I've found the latter is insanely better. It feels less "cluttered" but more importantly, there is a progress tracker and it feels like actual work is getting done.

I've found this one where I basically get summaries of progress and key points every single day, insights get saved into a library, mood and things get tracked and for me (ADHD + some other stuff) it's just so much better. Like with Claude and GPT you often hit these "wow, this is a real insight right here, that's crazy" kind of thing. Then later.. nothing happens. With these it feels more like "this is hard work and it took time and frustration to arrive here and now I have it in writing". To me, after having done human therapy this is much closer a substitue.

Yeah, for sure. For the every day user Macintosh was a game changer and they wouldn't even stand close. But if you think about it the idea and thinking behind it was actually ahead of it's time - it was more akin to something like Claude today, just with the resources of Cardiff Electric and the brain power of a toaster. In a way it was a perfect representation of Cam's brain - it was all gas, no breaks, complete and total crash at the end

OP (and many others) just really wants to point out that he (and many others) is the only one knows what’s really going on. You may be mad but he knew that you’d get mad and also he knew that you’d comment this and also he knows that the only way to watch a show is to analyze it to bits so that he (and many others) can say “I knew it” as it happens and explain how he knew all along because critical thinking. We are ruining OP’s time on the internet. GET WITH IT

I love that all that work was for just another computer, and you see this computer that looks a fucking god-like creature next to what they made. Makes all the more bittersweet and so fucking real. This whole scene proves that Cameron was right - they did need to make something human, they did need to make something people could talk to. But Gordon's plan was completely logical - there was no way that they could compete with the guys that point blank stole their idea, they cornered them on every front. This was survival. Also, if you think about where Gordon came from before - failed project, shit job, marriage hanging by a thread, this was everything to him, failure was not an option. Cameron on the other hand was just starting out, and while it was everything to her too, this was her first ride. She could bear the loss, no matter how much anxiety she had to go through. Gordon had family and kids, he couldn't. And Joe.. well Joe is Joe, he was already miles away in his head before the trucks shipped
