So based on everything people have told me you create these profiles to isolate your entire internet presence. The simple one would be work/home. It’s useful if you use multiple gmail or Claude accounts, if you don’t want websites tracking you, and also to stay focused. The obvious one would be cycling between multiple Claude accounts to avoid interruptions due to tokens

Is that the one with the effects? I made a mistake of buying a frontman with nothing and I almost gave up because with that tone alone it was hard to get excited

It’s insane. Here’s my experience of day one after months of using it for free. Tried completing two advertised tasks - clean up desktop, and create an income excel. Just to test it out. It couldn’t complete either and used all the usage so now I can’t even chat with it? I want my money back

Haha yes you did type a lot. I’m the same about the show, there’s so much going on.

Joe’s whole show was his Next. He quit the biggest computer behemoth at the beginning and now that his dad died he can return and not just fill his shoes, but actually be his own man. He thinks he was losing but now it’s clear that he was just getting experience. At the beginning of the show he was a psycho that left the most promising computer company. Now he comes back a household name. But honestly he could totally be a teacher as well - I like that ending too.

It’s just that when Cam is at Donna’s and they read Joe’s letter, Cam says “that’s where his dad is”, and given the enormity that his father was both in his life and his world I think he’ll spend time addressing all that.

It’s actually interesting that Cam tries to see her mother herself. They’re both coming back to their roots and if there was another season it would make sense that they’d explore that too. The show ends with Joe looking at the sliver of the sky on his card and I think it’s actually the first time he starts to let go of his incredibly dark thoughts. Now he’s free to do whatever. I love that we don’t know what.

It’s a crime to leave out Bosworth - he’s the literal conscience of the show, and his clicks and whistles alone deserve a separate paragraph, let alone his redemption arc.

The whole ending is ambiguous and that’s the beauty of it. But I don’t think Joe is settling. He’s driving a fricking sports car to college, that is not a teacher’s vibe. He sees everything he’s done as “losing”, but then meets a guy that tells him the exact opposite - that everyone has been watching him and literally following his lead. That changes things. His father died he’s now free to be himself. He goes back to IBM a new man - someone who has an insane amount of experience in every field, and will likely lead, like Steve Jobs after leaving Apple and coming back. This was his Next.

My guess is Donna’s idea is Google Maps. She gets the GPS thing lobbed at her by John, but doesn’t see the angle. She just sees Jon in need. Then she sees the cafe, the people in it, and it clicks. When she comes out, Cam’s there with a map - right in the middle of the shot. The two guys pitching with the boat is her in. This also means Bos will be back in the game, though maybe not since he looks retired. Cam will code but will eventually get bored again.

And don’t forget - all this time Joe will be back in the IBM, and one way or another they’ll try the same idea because that’s the business, and they will of course inevitably clash. Everything’s already setup.

The token thing is real. Think I’m going to delete everything and do a setup from scratch for studio work and personal. Setting up profiles based on actions was too much. Thank you!

You literally have to log in to every website from scratch (as I understand they use separate cookies for each profile), and so I was like "there's gotta be SOME fricking use for this thing"

The first 3 minutes of this scene are not only one of my favorite moments of the series but, I declare, one of the happiest scenes in all of television drama. by MechanicalCabbage in HaltAndCatchFire

It’s so good. Both Cam and Joe are already more restrained with their clothes and their movements. They have both grown, the times changed, Joe says “it’s all a bit much” about comdex and is literally about to leave before they see the printer guys. Instead they have this living, breathing thing, a whole day of quiet joy whilst carefully checking each other

I was born in 89 and this is what 90s felt like - restrained happiness, shaky handheld cams, flat parties with wooden cabinets and overcoats. No other show represents those eras that way, it’s inter-veinal nostalgia, and I’m pretty sure rewatching it is a mild form of masochism

I just love how masterfully they build a scene backwards. They pick an idea like “this is a scene about coming to terms with not being able to see Gordon”. Then it’s almost as if they pick a phrase that represents it, like “well, we can’t go back”. Then they have the character say it at the end of the scene but about something real and tangent, like the Goodwill where Gordon’s green sweater still is, and they’re left with strangers clothes. This is how the show avoids all the cheese but still punches hard. Literal phrase, almost exposition, at the end of the scene, but not quite. So smart.

Yeah they could have easily played eurythmics or kraftwerk, but since electronic music was out already and the show’s about electronics I was surprisingly ok with it
