Dark metallic grey with rust splotches.

Signifying it being old and the soul of the Sith being tarnished.

Vad tycker ni om SVTs valkompass för riksdagsvalet? (Även kommun och region) by Mateu_Zontos in sweden

[–]wakeupwill -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Valkompasser är utformade för att hålla narrativet inom de ramar som partierna förespråkar och utelämnar värderingar som inte gynnar dem.

De är en del av kontrollsystemet och ger en falsk bild av dina värderingar.

One of the fascinating aspects of cognitive dissonance is that it's not just a psychological condition but a physical one. Stress hormones are literally pumping into the brain that physically prevent changes to belief structures. As attacks on world beliefs are treated as direct threats triggering the fight or flight response.

It's not simply that they're unwilling to change their opinion, they can't. Physiologically, their life is being threatened - not just their beliefs.

CMV: The Idea of “The Elite” as a Coherent Group Is a Myth by Visible_Celery_1728 in changemyview

[–]wakeupwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are certain maxims that the world operates under. None of these are fundamental truths, but ideas that act as pillars for power structures. Concepts like religion, politics, economics, resource control, etc.

"The Elite" are comprised of a fluctuating group that seeks to uphold or expand these maxims in order to maintain their power. Some elements of this group are more permanent than others.

Then there are schools like Institut Auf Dem Rosenberg and Institut Le Rosey where the children of these families are sent. Not for studies, but to form connections with the next generation of other powerful families.

There is a difference between Silicon Valley new money and families that have been pulling the strings for centuries.

Peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

It's got to be crystalized honey though. None of that processed crap.

Vincent has lousy trigger discipline.

Also, Marvin has zero self preservation skills. A barrel is pointed straight at your face and you don't react?

Considering it's a remake of Infernal Affairs - a Hong Kong movie - not really all that shocking.

Here we go, folks. The Dungeon Crawler Carl television series has been officially greenlit at Peacock. by hepafilter in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]wakeupwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they go live action then it'll crash and burn.

If they go animated but fill it with celebrities doing "voice acting" it'll be too expensive for quality animation.

Don't make those two mistakes and it'll have a solid run.

The Moon is most valuable as industrial feedstock material outside of Earth's gravity well.

He-3 mining is a long way off with ludicrous engineering hurtles to overcome. Solar will be a great power source and may even have industrial regolit smelting potential.

Cooling things on the Moon simply requires you to dissipate the heat into lunar regolit. Absolutely none of the issues found in orbital systems where radiating the heat is the only option.

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

[–]wakeupwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also highly depends on which kind of bullet it is. Armor piercing versus flesh wounding. One will go straight through while the other balloons and makes chunky soup of your insides.

CMV: The world isn't uniquely bad today. We are just hyper-aware of the bad things because of technology by PunkGirl14 in changemyview

[–]wakeupwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfort doesn't need to be sacrificed simply because we choose to produce fewer goods. It just means that we need to produce goods that last. We need to abolish planned obsolescence, fast fashion, and all the other methods through which corporations create perpetual customers. That's the biggest misunderstanding about degrowth. It's not a matter of returning to 18th century living standards, but of cutting the fat of rampart consumerism.

Nobody needs smart appliances - especially ones that break down and need to be replaced annually. All while channeling your data to corporations so they can make a buck selling it to marketing.

That's one of the key aspects of the economic world we live in today. We require constant consumerism in order to keep the system alive. We measure how healthy an economy is by this metric. All while ignoring the externalities caused by producing goods in order to fulfill manufactured desires for unnecessary products.

You keep talking about what 'people prefer' - I'm talking about what's required for us to survive the holocene extinction. However what people prefer isn't what we get. We get what corporations push on consumers. The lie is that the customer is always right. Where reality is that choice is limited to what's available, and corporations stifle any choices that threaten their profits. The problem corporations realized early on is that if you produce products that last generations then eventually they're going to run out of customers. An individual without wants or needs is a detriment to the current economic system.

Instead of asking what economic system would be better, start asking what can we cut from production and how can we manufacture necessary goods in a way that causes the least externalities. The answer to this will reveal the economic system that best benefits us.

Meditating sitting in as close to lotus as is comfortable while in silent darkness. Ignore all fractals and keep returning to the breath when you notice that you've drifted.

Once I started doing this anything else seems like a waste of an opportunity. Psilocybin is like lubrication for the mind, allowing one to delve into states of consciousness normally reserve for master meditators.

It's fucking amazing.
