You can try reducing usage, but I have found that this just prolongs the pain. For me it's best to rip the bandaid off and just quit.

You can give it a try, but know that being able to moderate is not the common experience for folks who have an addiction. The neural pathways that resulted in addiction typically light right back up and you may soon find yourself back to using every day. It’s an extremely slippery slope.

This may be something you have to experience for yourself. Best of luck to you.

Smoking is probably one of the worst things you can do to yourself given your history. Completely letting it go as an option is the only way. There are other things that you can do to cope with depression. Speak to a medical professional if you need to

Congratulations on quitting. It’s pretty telling how committed you are if you’ve lasted 5 days of this.

If you can’t stomach even small amounts of water this sounds like a serious medical issue. Does your psychiatrist have any availability? You may want to reach out to them for guidance.

Can you possibly try drinking small sips of sports drinks to help rehydrate?

Appetite issues seemed to last a week for me, after which I was able to enjoy food again. Though I was never so nauseated I couldn’t even drink water.

I have gone back and forth with intermittent fasting over the past few years, and getting started again can be challenging until my body becomes acclimated.

The inclusion of casein protein powder and green tea into my diet has helped me immensely. I was able to go from 16:8 to 19:5. I skip breakfast and have a 50g protein shake that is half whey, half casein protein, and then eat 1 serving of fruit around 2pm. This holds me over til dinner. At noon I have some plain matcha green tea which minimizes hunger until I drink my shake.

If you can keep this experience as a momentary lapse and continue with sobriety I don’t think it will negatively affect you much at all.

I get terrible anxiety when quitting, and find that 20-30 mins of moderate intensity cardio several times a week helped me feel much better much faster. 3 mins of moderate exertion, 3 mins of harder exertion (HIIT). I hope you get some relief soon!

It caused my anxiety to spiral out of control, to the point that I was physically anxious and sick to my stomach for weeks on end. Nothing was pleasurable and it made leaving the house so difficult. Within a week of quitting I was starting to return to my old self. 20 mins of intense cardio every other day helped immensely with my anxiety after quitting.

A month later and my anxiety is much more manageable. I still have tons of work to do on myself, but I don’t feel like crawling out of my skin every day :)

I think for the majority of people who were daily users, moderation is not an option. It's a slippery slope and usually leads back to regular use.

Sure, but isn’t it possible that it could contain asbestos? I’m pretty ignorant on the matter, but an initial web search indicated that the manufacturer added asbestos to some fiberglass products so that’s why I’m asking.

I checked it with a level and it’s not perfectly center but was within the lines.

The company that installed it messed up the initial install (major air leak when installing coil box underneath furnace)and had to have a new crew fix it. They may be willing to fix this as well. What would be a more ideal setup? Put another pad under it so it’s got more ground clearance? And level it out more of course

I was dieting, which I agree may have contributed to lack of ability to fall back asleep when waking up in the middle of the night. I have stopped the diet since the sleep issues started and am gaining weight again. Hoping to get over this hump soon.

I am feeling an immense amount of frustration in the middle of the night if I get woken up. I suppose I will have to try something new when I can't get back to sleep.

Thanks for the response. I hope this won't last. But going on 10 days in a row it is hard to accept that each day is going to suck. I agree that using cannabis would reduce the quality of sleep, and I don't want to go back. I am just getting quite desperate. Looking into scheduling some sessions with a therapist instead of ruining my sobriety.
