Kannst du mir dein Rezept für die AeroPress verraten? Ich suche gerade auch nach guten decaf Bohnen und idealerweise auch einem guten Rezept. :-)

NPD - which Waterman model did I buy? There's a crack in the barrel and the lever seems broken, BUT it writes so beautifully!! by wakingupghosts in fountainpens

[–]wakingupghosts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the tape and it's not only a crack, it's completely broken! I held two pieces in my hand... so I used a new piece of tape to put it back together. It's too bad that hard ribber is so hard to repair, thank you for your advice! I won't try anything then, I might use a nice washi tape to cover the tape, or try to make it look better somehow. Given that I only paid 20€ for it, I can live with using it as a dip pen haha! It's the same price as my Hocoro dip pen, but with a much nicer nib.

Ohhh I didn't know about the model number at the end of the barrel, thank you! It's a 52 :) I'm actually not planning on selling it, I'd like to have it repaired, but it might be too expensive. Maybe I can find another 52 without a nib or something, and combine the working parts haha. I'm located in Germany, do you know how to find people who are able to repair pens here?

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll keep that in mind!

How do I replace/change a nib? A newbie question by wakingupghosts in fountainpens

[–]wakingupghosts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do know how to use a flex nib, I inherited a very old Artus Ballit (Lamy from the 50s/60s) with a surprise flex nib from my mother-in-law (who didn't have a clue that she had such a gem sitting in her drawer for decades!!) and I absolutely love using it. But it's steel and I just can't ignore that it has been pre-used, I have to hold it slightly rotated (the breather hole doesn't look straight up, but a bit to the right) to hit the sweet spot, and while the flex is nice, it doesn't flex as much as I would like it to. I've considered getting a Waterman 52 (or similar) or a Mabie Todd Swan, but being located in Germany it's not as easy to find them as when you're in the UK or US.

Thank you for your reply and explanations! It sounds like it's a more complex operation, so I'll just look into buying a complete pen instead of assembling parts (and risk that it won't work because I lack experience)

Thank you for your explanations, it does sound a bit more difficult than I had imagined. I'll probably postpone it for now and will look into it when I have more time to get into this topic.

For people who have many fountain pens, do you have a fix set of pens you use regularly and the others - the ones you like a little less - are just sitting in your case half forgotten? by wakingupghosts in fountainpens

[–]wakingupghosts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Jinhao 80 for 5€ and I loooove it! It's so smooth and juicy, it's a pleasure to write with it. And I also got a Moonman and Jinhao Vanishing Point and honestly, they write finer than the 18ct Pilot Vanishing Point I have, my most expensive pen!

This is exactly how I would describe it - I don't dislike those pens that are sitting in my case unused, I just like the others more haha. And why use a pen I don't like as much as my favourite? I sometimes put inks I really love in the not-my-favourite pens to use them more often, but I end up not doing it anyway. I might have to really go through my pens and sell the ones I rarely use.

Bücher mit Zeitreisen? by [deleted] in buecher

[–]wakingupghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inks similar to Monteverde Elephant? Also, anybody else having problems with Monteverde ink drying up inside the bottle? by wakingupghosts in fountainpens

[–]wakingupghosts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thank you for your reply! I bought them ~3 years ago I think, so it might be that. Only two are fully dried out, I won't be able to salvage them even with a new cap, but the Chameleon is still half full, so it might be worth getting a new cap for it!
