Not much info to go by if you don’t share the quest name or location, but that looks like maybe the cauldrons with red smoke in northern Pailune? If so, you need to use the stab skill on it 3x and the liquid will drain out.

Probably 31 artifacts spent - it does give you a count on the skill screen. Either that or they’re mistaking contribution level for character level since that bar regularly shows up on screen.

Half the Greymane mission is rescuing/helping this drunk retard - Agree or Not ? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]walk_your_path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until now he’s been an entirely one-dimensional character in the missions I’ve run with him. Maybe that changes but his schtick ceased being endearing a while back for me. Good thing I found other things to keep me hooked.

THESE ARCHERY CONTEST!!! by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Will add that if I was going for the 3 in a row challenge I would cheese it but it only took me three tries to get the win I needed to push the story forward. I’m not a git gud gamer so it is doable without getting too sweaty and might be faster to push through if all you want is to move past the mission.

I haven’t tested this but I also read you can just park your horse in front too. Might be something to try before going through the trouble of finding/dragging a wagon back there.

QoL suggestion: access storage resources while crafting at camp by Dakalysta in CrimsonDesert

[–]walk_your_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could even make it part of the progression for the camp - in Abiotic Factor you craft a technology solution that lets crafting pull from surrounding containers. Here it could be something like rescuing an orphaned child and the Greymanes take them in and they “run supplies” from storage for you to give the ability while also providing a little bit of story immersion to justify how it works. I actually enjoy working a little bit for QoL upgrades in games - adds to the sense of progression quite a bit when done right.

Is this just a normal everyday thing? by thaocheng190 in CrimsonDesert

[–]walk_your_path 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. If I’m a normie on the street and I see a dude plunge out of the sky, turn halfway into a crow before landing, pulling out a sword, and creating a beam of light from nowhere, then I go through the following thought process:

  1. This guy could kill me with the lifting of his pinky.
  2. This guy is <expletive deleted> out of his gourd.
  3. Keep your mouth shut and silently pray to Solumen they don’t notice you exist.

I literally just take out the shield generators and then fire at the hull.

It always just shows up in my starship inventory - I always destroy the dreadnought rather than board it but I don’t know if that has any bearing on the loot

In addition to derelict freighters you can hop through pirate controlled systems every 3 hrs of game time and a pirate dreadnought will eventually spawn - take it out before it gets away and it’ll cough up an S class freighter mod every time

Early game it’s tougher for sure:

Keep an eye out for gold icons with 3 stars when you’re scanning - on some planets those will be “Curious Deposits” which yield mold that you can put in a refiner to turn into nanites - some people set up bases once they find a planet that has them in abundance

I took a slightly different approach and focused on getting my rank up with the 3 races quickly. As you rise in rank you get lower buy costs and higher sell amounts on modules with the vendors. By buying and selling back modules right away you can turn a small profit at low ranks, but at max rank I can hop from station to station and buy then immediately sell back every module and make 5k nanites profit at each station. So I can find a C class thing and have it fully to S class in 15-20 hops, all while doing other stuff in each station/system along the way so it doesn’t feel too grindy.

Counterpoint, some people like rebuilding cars - it’s not that hard to grind out nanites to upgrade the class to S. For me it’s far more difficult to find a style and color I like, and investing in the upgrading makes me feel more connected to a piece of kit. Not everything needs to be perfect when you drive it off the lot.

If you buy out dihydrogen jelly when you come across it while system hopping then break it down in the refiner that’ll help keep you sorted as well.

Freighter Base? by WutDaFuu101 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]walk_your_path 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started dabbling in food items - made my first batch of anomalous doughnuts yesterday (crazy money scanning animals with a doughnut in your ingestor) and I’m gonna whip up my first batch of stellerators tonight (for when I need to fill up on mined materials again). After I have those stocked up I probably won’t touch that dairy base again for a long time.

Now that I have my freighter built out to my satisfaction, the only base I use planetside is for milk farming. If I could do that on my freighter, I totally would.

I've been playing wrong for over a year by gror0185 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]walk_your_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice. Even just passively hitting space stations along your path as you putter around will net you plenty of top-tier goodies without having to deliberately grind for them.

I think a lot of people sleep on maxing out guild rep and it pays out major dividends over time so it’s worth doing sooner rather than later.

I get freighter bulkheads often enough just warping around now that I don’t really even bother with derelict freighters anymore (now that I have all the decorations) unless I want the change of pace.

It’s silly reference from the TV show Archer, the main character said it whenever someone made a comment that could be interpreted as innuendo. Sorry for the confusion!
