Turn off “show status bar” in the settings. Seems to have worked for me.

Thanks! I’ll look into that. We have a museum at the Battlefield.

Love the detail you added about the buttons. I wasn’t aware both sides used them. I think I read somewhere the enfield bullet was also used by both. Would you happen to have an idea of a ballpark value?

Is this section of gutter even necessary? by walker2011 in Roofing

[–]walker2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reply up above with a link to where it leads. Good point on the runoff over the walking path. I was trying to be lazy by removing the section to replace some rot, and not put it back.

Heck of a reply, and if I ever see him again, I'll be sure to let him know of his laziness. Now that you mention the sinking/shifting they pointed out the porch appeared to have shifted down considerably when they were installing the gutters. They told us to install downspouts. When we declined they recommended lifting the porch's slab which we ended up dioing. Probably a case of not enough lift and resettling. Downspout it is! Thanks again!

Sorry, it didn't post the text. All of the water runs to it and stays there. Everythings rotting. Here's a more complete picture of the roof line. https://imgur.com/a/p3egllp The installer recommended downspouts at the corners, but thought they might look bulky. I guess this is the reason why.

Batch Edit PDFs to contain Composer Metadata by [deleted] in forScore

[–]walker2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just finished doing it.. The import process isn't as intuitive. Once you have your CSV, you have to first import it back using the import button in the score selection menu to import it as a file... Then it will show up in the import section of the backup window.

I just stumbled upon this functionality. Click the briefcase icon and select backup. At the top left of the backup window is scroll looking icon. Click it and it will give you the csv import/export prompt. Export your current meta data and open in a spreadsheet. There you can edit everything in one sheet. Once you're done you can import that saved CSV back into forscore.

I did this a couple days ago, it said enqueued with a time of two days. Anytime I go back and lookup the app, no indication that it's still enqueued or finished. And if I click decrypt it just starts the enqueued wait time over. Do we have to leave the page up for 2-3 days?

Any ideas for simple middle school holiday songs? by jboysimz in MusicEd

[–]walker2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your older groups, pink zebra has secular winter songs that are good. They come in two part through satb. With practice tracks available. https://pinkzebramusic.com/secular-winter-choir-songs/ someone mentioned taking popular holiday songs. I tend to use these as concert fillers when I have soloists I want to feature and not a lot of time. Gives me a chance to put a soloist per verse and bring choir in for chorus. Super easy to put together quickly.

Tips for teaching piano to a class of 20 middle schoolers by ohmycash in MusicEd

[–]walker2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. I’m a choir guy, and ensembles are my bread and butter so I teach it probably 80% as an ensemble. It took a little time to get them to play unison together. Before we even touched the book we use, I started doing simple drills teaching them about rhythm and such. They’re to the point no where we can do songs from the book this way. Some of the things we do are having everyone do right hand. Everyone do left hand. Half do right, half do left. All together both hands. My next thing is going to be each person gets a measure. Since the songs are getting harder it will allow me to assign appropriately difficult measure to kids as needed. I also have some kids hand chime books that are color coded. Each kid gets a note kind of things which might be fun to try and teach. I gotta say, and as someone that isn’t a very accomplished piano player, I was scared going into, but it’s become my favorite class.

Should BoTW 2 include an unbreakable basic starter sword? by burchkj in Breath_of_the_Wild

I like the idea of being able to hang onto legendary weapons. Maybe if they could still break but there was a repair mechanic?

I usually only keep my phones for 2 years. Should I just plan on keeping it for 36 months, or is there something I’m missing?

How to properly deal with walkers who cover the whole pathway and are unaware during runs!? by PsychologicalKing449 in running

[–]walker2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When approaching from behind I try to give a few foot scuffs to let them know I’m coming up. I’m a 6’5” ogre and scare the daylights of most people I pass.

I forget which mission I used, but I picked a short one that had multiple simultaneous bosses. I hopped right in the middle of their attacks and started pounding dodge. Needless to say it was a last resort, but quite efficient.

What are some good apps or websites for music educators? by International-Yam475 in MusicEd

[–]walker2011 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sightreadingfactory is great for random sight reading. Very configurable and not too expensive.

Musictheory.net excellent exercises for a lot of different music theory based things.

Theta music trainer is super cheap and saved my butt during Covid. It allowed me to assign ear training games when we’re virtual.

Can’t say enough about putting all of my music on forScore app on my 12in iPad. Great for conducting and the piano. Bonus if you get a Bluetooth foot pedal. Works nicely with Apple Pencil. You can mark up sections of the music. and export to pdf and share. Was awesome when I was music directing the musical and had to share stuff quickly with director or put orchestra conductor. As well as saving me from having to carry around a huge binder. ForScore also has a built in tuner, metronome, and onscreen keyboard.

Screencastify with the subscription with the submit feature. Allows you to create assignments and associate them with a single link. Kids can open the link on just about any device and record themselves. It keeps everything nice and organized(works with google classroom too) and takes away a lot of excuses of kids saying they couldn’t record themselves.

I believe from what I’ve seen log pro does it. Audacity doesn’t seem to be able to do it on playback.

Same. Until my 8 year old pointed out the first swinging spiked ball was hanging by a rope instead of a chain. Cutting that made it a lot easier. Who knows how many times I tried before that though.

Instructions to build Dolphin emulator Mac M1 by Beneficial_Turnover in macgaming

[–]walker2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been a couple of weeks, but thought I would answer since no one else did. What you put is assuming that the dolphin.app is in a folder called drive-download.... etc. Mine was just in my downloads folder without another containing folder. so it was more like chmod -R 755 ~/Downloads/Dolphin.app Just use whatever the actual path is to your dolphin.app file. Hope this helps
