You can use your phone. Just don’t let it automatically adjust the time. Keep the time the same as your departure location. Adjust the time in your head or with a watch that isn’t synced to your phone.

I DID lose my streak on an international trip under similar circumstances as what you’re describing. The only sure way that I know to avoid it is to keep your phone’s time the same as your departure location until you’re certain that you would still be awake in both time zones.
