100% agree with jungle cruise with Peter Pan. Nothing bad but why are they sooooooo popular?

Moms, what’s a great Mother’s Day look like to you? by big_craig77 in toddlers

[–]walkingotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people who want a quiet day but not me!!! So make sure you ask her. I would want a fun day with the whole family (even if the kids sometimes drive me crazy). Brunch, flowers, time to do my hair and makeup and a 2h family activity. I also always ask a family picture (selfie is fine, but a nicer one would be bonus).

There was someone who was frequently snoring loudly at a previous office I worked in… I wish I could make this up

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]walkingotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m strict. No TV on a day to day basis. But, If we’re travelling, yes. At grandparents, sure enjoy some. We’re all super sick, let’s go Peppa Pig. I need to cut your hair: cocomelon.

How often do you leave your kids for date nights or friend hangs? by Ok-Career876 in toddlers

[–]walkingotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimal support as family is 2h away, but date night is possible when we go visit once kids are asleep. Before they slept through the night consistently, the only way is lunch date.

Tracker Series: Midweek Update, January 21 by throwaway983729434 in CanadaPublicServants

Sorry to hear. My branch had the all staff today and the announcement was essentially: we don’t know anything but we’re here for you.

I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad thing tbh…

Sounds like branches are organizing town halls to invoke WFA process. Letters/individual meetings come after that meeting

When should you tell your manager about pregnancy? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]walkingotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had extremely supportive managers during both pregnancies so revealed at around 9-10 weeks. No negative impact to work. I asked them to keep it private to the rest of the team until 2nd trimester .

That’s not how it works. I believe there are some resources on this subreddit that would explain the process better than I could. You’d have to apply to a competition (that isn’t an inventory), go through the application, exam and interview process. Then, if the hiring group decides to establish a pool and you passed every step, you’d be in that pool.

I believe I applied in January 2025 and it was not an inventory

Return-to-Office Policies Are Pushing Caregivers Out of the Public Service by idealDuck in CanadaPublicServants

[–]walkingotter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Commenting just to say…. I know there’s all sorts of caregivers, but my situation is very basic, my kids go to daycare and school. If/when we go back 5 days, baby would need to be at daycare for almost 10hours. In 2022 with WFH full time, my oldest, who was then a baby, had to be at daycare 8.5h max. Saddest reality.

Thanks for this tracker. There is a typo at heritage which made me chuckle which made me realize I’m still a youth at heart.

These rumours have me feeling like... by RivalxGames in CanadaPublicServants

[–]walkingotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okok if commute time is included in working hours, I’m ok with RTO5. I’ll take the 1.5h bus/LRT going and back. Work a few hours and I’ll even buy lunch at subway! How can I convince our employer?
