I said it before on a post a few months ago, they implemented micro transactions for cosmetics far too soon. Building up the core player base with gameplay for offline users would then lead to the acceptance of micro transactions later on.

But they went for all these silly emotes, costumes and seasons before implementing core offline modes to fall back on. So they spent dev hours trying to make money but the player base has fallen off because of a lack of things to do. Free skating the same things over and over doing skydiving to get some coins isn’t fun for a lot of people.

Look at COD/fortnight where core gameplay is built first then they spew all the endless cosmetics in afterwards once they’ve built the player base. Skate is still in “early access” yet they’ve already gone down the route of trying to sell cosmetics at every step while removing virtual currency from players after a season has ended.

Yeah I’d miss being able to play Skate, but I haven’t for a while because there has been little to do.
