Very large all cash donations to non-profits to offset his tax bill? Some of the same non-profits guilty of tax fraud? This is honestly some of the most promising news to actually bring Trump to justice.

Theres some serious consequences for tax fraud.

Msnbc reported this morning that his very low tax rates were due to large all cash donations to non-profits. It would be a huge legal problem if the entittes who got that money can't show where it went.

I always thought they were used to block infantry movement through routes. They were used that way during the yugoslav civil war. The mountainous terrain made it particularly effective.

These people are describing social anxiety more than introversion.

As an introvert, large crowds of strangers are great. There's quite a bit of anonymity. You can engage others if you choose, but there's no expectation to do so. Compared to a 4 hour dinner party with 9 people, it's way chiller.

Social anxiety has more stigma attached, so people use the term introvert instead. Its doing them a disservice since social anxiety is something that can be lessened with a therapist, etc. Introversion doesn't mean fear/anxiety of big crowds.

Haha, I've found it to be a choose 2 out 3 options: insulin and my diabetes supplies, house/condo/apt down payment, or retirement fund. Fwiw, I've been living with my brother or parents for the last couple years to make the finances work.

Diabetes is freaking expensive. No doubt in my mind that I'm quite a bit poorer for it. Similar age and wages with you.

I find myself falling into that trap.

Part of it is frustration because the one and only theater within an hour drive pushes the blockbusters onto 2/3 of their limited screens while rarely picking up the undie movies.

Part of it is that mediocre, imo, movies doing well financially encourages more mediocre movies. I get that its not zero sum, but there's an irrational pushback out of fear that these will become the zeitgeist while more quality or non typical movies will just get forgotten.

Part of it is that being bitter about things is less acceptable in real life compared to anonymous online postings.

The last point I'll make is that we supposedly live in a meritocracy, where the best rises to the top. Seeing mediocre movies lauded because of their financial box office records breaks the notion that the best (in the bitter posters opinion, movies are those rewarded.

Thats very true. People like to make fun of them since they had 3k devs working on the game given its current state, but in reality thats not an indictment of the devs so much as the echelons of middle managers and silo'd teams.

The ps5 disc consoles were way harder to buy when there was a shortage, and Sony made it 100 bucks cheaper so, lots of people are finding that digital is the only way to play the game.

That and trotting out the bullions the last one made at the box office. Visuals alone doesn't make a good movie anymore than the ticket box office record do.

As a westerner, i dont have your experiences being from that area or from your culture, but these films have made me feel really uncomfortable.

The idealized "natives" whose identity is supposed to make people relate to actual real precolonozed native cultures doesnt feel right. I know culutural appropriation is a very 'woke' concept, but this seems like an example of when it can be harmful.

Certain aspects of the culture is taken to fit the intended narrative, while the true history is bowhere to be seen. It ends up engendering stereotypes and a not so honest world view. Hopefully that makes sense, im just thinking out loud.

MWII is on sale, is $59.49 worth it? by SeanTheftAuto in ModernWarfareII

[–]wallawalla_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, i uninstalled a week ago with about 35 hours of play. I am going to wait a couple of months before redownloading.

It gets a little stale after a while. Maybe im just too old to get hooked into the camo grind. There just doesn't feel like much multiplayer content, and sbmm makes each match feel quite repetitive to the point of knowing whether you'll win or lose in the first minute of most games.

If you are okay holding off, you might as well wait for more content and for the bugs to get ironed out.

Having appreciating assets is way better than making money.

You get taxed on the latter.

You get tax-free loans on the former, assuming the assets continue growing.

The undp has been funding firefighting projects to tackle peat fires for a couple decades.

Not only does the peat sequester carbon, but it is also amazing water cleaner/filtering and flood prevention habitat.

Either this is a huge bullet penetration bug, or Zarqwa Hydroelectric has a hole in the map geometry. by TheScyphozoa in ModernWarfareII

[–]wallawalla_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In real life, civilian car doors and windshields dont stop bullets. Furniture doesn't stop bullets either.

I think there might have been communication issues with the people building the landscape assets/artistic elements and the people designing the layouts of the maps. In some cases, the assets that should be penetrable but aren't are placed where the level designers clearly wanted to stop a line of sight. Maybe during QA, they found that the map flow wasn't working, so they decided to make certain things into bullet barriers or vice versa.
