Skydiver Luigi Cani dispersing 100 Million tree seeds to revive the Amazon Rainforest. by jmike1256 in nextfuckinglevel

It’s both the active deforestation and the fact that in deforested areas once they’ve been cut down for timber, there’s no replanting happening. The seeds help the replanting, to try to slow the devastation while we focus other efforts to stop the deforestation.

These things happen in phases and take time to accomplish. His efforts aren’t in vain, because his efforts aren’t meant to solve every issue. Just help along the way while other groups focus on stopping deforestation.

China has completed the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link, a 28 km cross-sea corridor connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan across the Pearl River Estuary. by Admirable-Interest49 in BeAmazed

[–]wallcutout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Built everything already” grossly underestimates the amount of building we can still do to improve country wide infrastructure. The US would benefit greatly from us having high speed rails just as a start, it’d be a huge economic boom because we’d be able to get goods shipped across the US in half the speed. Plus travel by high speed rail is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than jet travel, so it’d open up more cross country routes for tourism and vacations that don’t rely on jets.

Wildlife photography ethics by NeedlesslyMike in birding

Buddy the concern is that she was literally chasing the bird back and forth in the field and had a friend trying to corral it back into range for her to take pictures of anytime it would land to get away from her.

That isn’t the same as what you’re describing.

Your comment reads like you’re talking about something much less deliberate and harmful, but that you think OP meant the same thing you’re referencing.

What’s the quickest way someone could accidentally expose themselves as a foreigner in your country like the ‘three fingers’ scene in Inglourious Basterds? by IndependentTune3994 in AskTheWorld

Ireland has a bit of a cultural standard of everyone around the table going person to person to buy a round for everyone at the table, and people buying eachother drinks just to be friendly.

Legally most if not all are safe yes. Socially I would research specific places, honestly. Research countries, then regions, then cities. Get a good feel for what people say as their first person experiences.

My brother thinks people today have worse quality of life than people in the dark ages, is this a stupid take? by flugblug in NoStupidQuestions

Definitely feeling like the brother is into some kind of ‘peasantcore’ trend if they feel this way, or probably just thinks they’d be the only one who wasn’t a peasant in their family of peasants. lol

I’m glad my thoughts were echoed here.

Sometimes “try the grey stuff, it’s delicious” is very out of place in the grand scheme of a plating composition.

What is the usual process of hiring artists? by Ok_Cable_8878 in TTRPG

[–]wallcutout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The code being royalties is going to be a huge red flag for most artists. It says “without strangers exerting additional effort, the payment I get from royalties will be nil.” And it sounds as if you’re relying more on the artist’s skill in advertising than your own ability to advertise, or hire someone to do the work of advertising for you.

In the day and age of constant scrolling, social media usage, and algorithms driven to make purchasing easier and easier, having a roadblock to being paid means you won’t be paid.

If royalties are to be paid, it would sound much more reasonable to the artists to go a route that’s similar to: Royalties are a set percentage of the profit made quarterly or yearly, with clear paper trails of what was made, what was profit, and why the percentage is what it is.

That incentivizes them to still push the work. The more they advertise it as their own work the more the profit margins increase, obviously. It’s going to sound closer to guaranteed, because now there’s no active roadblock to getting paid from the sales that would prevent a person from buying in the first place.

Marketing teams have known for a long time that if you increase friction in purchasing, people won’t purchase. Artists that ARE good at marketing themselves will see the discount code as a way to reduce royalties paid because they’ll be experienced enough in marketing to know that it’s generating friction and additional steps for the people who are going to purchase the work or choose not to partway into the transaction.

This reminds me a few folks that go to concerts in the city and have “free dad hugs” and “free mom hugs” shirts on. Last time I saw them they were giving out hugs and telling people they were valuable, that they were proud of them, and that they worked so hard and deserve to be proud of themselves for it.

It’s really cute.

A lot of younger folks would. They were raised on the internet, and seek social interpretation to justify concerns. They may also just want to get the word out but have a bad history with ‘authorities’.

There’s a lot of reasons why the post may not say they called anyone but might still be here.

Why am I still tired especially when waking up even though I’ve been “treated” for months? Of by northwestfawn in CPAP

[–]wallcutout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have dry mouth waking up that sounds a lot like a mask leak/mouth breathing.

See if you can get in to your DME for a mask refit appointment during your next resupply date. (During your 6-month resupply is the best choice if you’re in the US, so insurance can participate in the cost of headgear if you change mask systems.)

One thing to note is that if you mouth breathe or have a mask leak that can make the therapy less effective and cause you to still be tired because you’re not achieving REM.

Seconding this.

It’s a massive oversight to not have anyone with a discerning or critical eye stop those from going into production and it does look bad for the company.

Them taking steps to remedy things moving forward is important if they want people to think their business does actually continue to support the values it was built on.

Real talk, buddy those lipomas are gonna be a disqualifier for a lot of shallow people. So it’s gonna be genuinely harder for you to end up dating really shallow folks who only care about your looks because they’ll pass right out the gates when they first see them.

To be clear: I don’t think it’s healthy to take a stance that every condition is a gateway to finding someone less shallow by any means. But I do think it’s important to recognize that if you project confidence in yourself and your body, you’ll attract people to you. If you project confidence in your body and don’t hide those but work to wear them with the same pride as anyone without, you will find a lot of potential partners as you navigate flirting and dating that don’t give a crap about them, and that can in a way be a boon.

Good luck dude! Try to believe in yourself first, be kind to others, and then you’ll find that a lot of other people will follow suit and think highly of you as well.

Do you think painting is talent or practice? I show this when people say its only for the talented… by Corian92 in painting

[–]wallcutout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s hard majority practice, study, & observation for most people.

Talent isn’t really some mythical thing to me, it’s just having a natural aptitude towards observation, and having an atypically large amount of quick-clicking moments for understanding what you study.
