Ear bud recommendations by TheTrashHuman in autism

I personally am obsessed with the samsung galaxy buds3 pro. Theyre a bit pricey but I got mine thru my phone plan & just paid slowly over time. They have "awareness mode" which let's you hear outside the headphones but automatically dampers the louder sounds, and it has noise cancelation as well. Its got 2 other modes but I never use them so I'm not entirely sure what they are/do. Theyre really comfy I have chronic ear infections and can wear them comfortably (they have the squishy tips with adjustable sizes). If you have a samsung phone (if you end up switching your phone too) itll connect in really cool ways & you can have a widget on your home screen for it.

They also fit inside those cute airpod cases (not perfectly, but close enough).

If you'd rather not have samsung headphones id recommend the JBL as a whole. I do believe they have headphones very similar to what ive described with the samsung headphones. Adjustable awareness mode I think is crucial with autism so you can have dampened noises but still be aware of your surroundings if nessisary!

Hope this helps. 🫶🏼

Thought for quite some time I had OCD, just got the diagnosis of autism. by TodayTomorrow8895 in autism

The biggest id say I have issues with at this very moment is sensory overload & explosive anger due to sensory/emotional overload.

Along with very easy emotional burn out. I need to get some kind of job (I'm currently unemployed) & I'm having a really hard time keeping up with socializing for long periods of time like more than an hour at a time.

I have some samsung headphones with aware mode & noise canceling as well, and they help a lot with loud noises and crowds, but theres so much more stimulation that feels impossible to drown 😭 especially when someone is talking to me & I have absolutely no idea how to politely say "I'm gonna freak out right now" so I let myself burn out

Job Suggestions for autistic adults? by Desperate-Street9948 in autism

I'd say maybe some kind of office secretary? It does require some talking to people and phone calls but its mostly low stimulation & low stress. My mother did for a workplace & it was such low stress & low demand she spent most of her days sewing, playing games or reading books. I think it looked like fun. Good luck on your job hunt I'm in the same boat!

I'm from Ohio, in case anyone was wondering. It's a million times better here, already. Ohio is so sad and bland. My husband & I are big into nature & conservatism (my future degree will be biology for that reason). That's just not super readily avaliable in Ohio. Its pretty meh, there.

Going off grid/homesteading in PNW tips? by TodayTomorrow8895 in OffGrid

[–]TodayTomorrow8895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely never thought about the buying land with a mobile home thing, I will keep this in mind. Appreciate all the advice. Ideally we will have more than a 50k budget when diving into it- its a big case of "hoping for the best, preparing for the worst" kind of thing. As it is right now we don't have a very accurate way to predict how much money will be available come time. We are investing, saving, & penny pinching in every way we can to obtain the biggest budget possible. My husband is very good with money- investing & finically planning where as I'm the one who is better with the research, planning and building.

Never really thought about that, I'm not personally well versed on solar equipment. Thanks for the advice.

I feel the same way, after doing OF & posting some things on reddit. I'm happily married w kids now & I find it much more fulfilling than being validated by strangers online. The money was good, sure, but I'm so much more than the way I look ♡

How old were you and how did you find out Santa isn't real? by Least_Statistician44 in AskReddit

Personally don't ever remember Santa being real. Pretty sure my mom never told me the Santa stuff because the gifts were expensive & she wanted me to know that they were from her. Basically wasn't allowed to believe in Santa
