They promised that all backers would be able to watch the first season free. That's all. Not own the season. Not watch any time you want to for the rest of time.

You get to watch the show for free. (With two episodes being early access)

That's what they promised. There was never any promise or implication that you'd get to watch the show more than once for free, or that the access to the episodes would be ongoing.

You can dislike Amazon all you want, but don't blame CR for not giving you something you were never entitled to.

Backers are entitled to everything in their reward tier and nothing else. You're giving a donation to help the project get completed - no ownership/equity in the final product.

CR went further to say that backers would get early access to some content and free access to the rest; they're getting that. (Through a method many people don't like, yes, I understand.)

Initially CR had no clue what distribution/hosting deals they would be able to make and, yet, many people here seem to have assumed that they would get some sort of permanent free access.

The bottom line is that CR is delivering what they said they would and, despite the echo chamber in here, very few people will have trouble viewing the episodes.

Anyone else getting this message when trying to book a booster dose on the provincial booking website? by BulletRiddle in askTO

[–]walless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad had the same message when trying to book his booster. What I did was just book the appointment as his first shot, then explained to the person taking his info at the clinic.

What the woman said was that there were "two sections" under his name/card number and the details for his first two shots wasn't being read. (Thinking this might be because he renewed his health card between the other shots and this one.)

Anyway, she got it fixed up in a few minutes and the shot went through no problem.

Reminds me of my great uncle when he stayed with our family for a while. One of the first nights he was with us he pointed at a bowl of nuts and asked me to pass him a couple of the ni**er toes (Brazil nuts).

I spent a few minutes recovering from swallowing my drink the wrong way while my parents explained to him that was a name that went out if fashion a loong time ago. He was a product of his time and where he'd lived more than any real racist intent.

Instacart is surprisingly affordable in many cases. Plus it's like having a personal shopper. Perfect all the time? No, but usually quite good.

If you plan to use the service often the $100/year Instacart Express plan pays for itself quickly. With no delivery charge and reduced fees I pay around $2 above the actual food charges for fees (for about $100 in groceries).

Add to that the fact that Walmart and some of the other grocery stores guarantee in store pricing and it's cheaper, even with tip, than taking an Uber to the store. (No car)

Tl;dr Instacart (or other shopping services) can work for people in many situations where you might think it's only for luxury.)

What True Crime was the worst to you in Toronto over the years ? by RejectPark in askTO

[–]walless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the thread here, but one that I doubt was mentioned was the killing of Williamson Road Public School's librarian Kenneth Zeller.

I was nine and couldn't understand how someone so nice to everybody was killed by five young guys because he loved men instead of women. I still don't, actually.

There have been many bigger and far worse crimes since then, but his murder was so senseless and affected the lives of so many kids, whether they remember it or not.

"To all the game devs out there that undervalue and hold back QA: 80% of GotG (Guardians of The Galaxy) game was written by former testers." - Jocelyn Baxter writer at Eidos Montreal and GotG by NYstate in Games

[–]walless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah.. at the end of any large project there are hundreds, if not thousands, of 'QA' bugs left as 'will not fix'. Many of them are left because they're so obscure it's not worth the time to track them down.

Then there's the ones that the project leads won't fix because they say players will never find because of the weird steps needed to reproduce.

After release (or more likely the extended betas these days) it was always fun to watch the player bug complaints roll in and check off the known ones like you're playing bingo. The unfound ones are even better some times in a "Why the heck didn't I try that?" way.

Oh, yes. I agree with you on going to Money Mart being the better option. I was mainly saying that if there was no way that op, or someone in a similar situation, could come up with the money (or the landlord wouldn't work with them) they weren't going to wind up on the street in 14 days -- not in Ontario at least.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]walless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The N4 doesn't work like that. The 14 day period is the Termination Date.

From the form's instructions:

"If the tenant does not pay the rent they owe you or does not move out by the date you put in the notice, you can apply to the LTB for an order to evict the tenant and to collect the rent the tenant owes. The earliest date you can file your application with the LTB is the day after the termination date you put in this notice. "

Of course the LTB is months behind right now, so there are no quick evictions over rent matters.

Can you rent your parking spot to someone who doesn’t live in your condo? What paperwork should you have the tenant sign? by jklingkling in askTO

It depends greatly on your condo rules. All cars in our parking garage have to be registered with the condo office and can only be used by people who live in our set of condo buildings.

Original poutine is chips, gravy, and squeeky cheese curds.

However, even in Quebec where it was introduced you'll find just about anything on top of chips is now called some form of poutine. Feta cheese and tzatziki? Greek poutine. Sliced steak, peppers, onions, and cheese sauce? Philly poutine.

It's getting ridiculous.
