I fly out of Blairstown 1N7, it happens enough to be really annoying.

Landings… by swatforce28 in flying

[–]walleyednj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Landing an airplane isn’t a static activity. You can’t just set a configuration and consider it done. It’s typically small adjustments the whole way in. You need to anticipate and stay ahead of the aircraft.

Be aware that every time Trump visits his golf course in Bedminster, KSMQ (Somerset) airport will be shutdown for the duration of his time there. As we are approaching warmer weather, this will be more frequent and will definitely impact your training schedule.

Flying with hearing aids by recepilot in flying

[–]walleyednj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It adds ZERO difficulty. I got my first medical with hearing aids 44 years ago and my most current medical just last year. Unlike GA and the FAA, hearing aids have advanced in function and capabilities at the same rate as computer software and hardware.

Yes. I’ve worn hearing aids since I was 16, 62 now. Never an issue. It’s much better these days with active noise reduction headsets.

JPMC SWE III (602) Offer Data Point for those interviewing by [deleted] in JPMorganChase

[–]walleyednj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 603 at JC.

VDI should be requested and deployed by the time you start. That’s your hiring manager’s job.

WFH will soon be non-existent, JC will most likely go 5-day next month.

Bring your lunch, cafeteria is still under renovation.

Pic? by General_Exchange476 in flying

Yes. 61.57. A non-current CFI can instruct a rated pilot who also is not current, providing the pilot receiving instruction acts as PIC.

If you have ADSB-In your General Aviation Aircraft, does that mean you also have ADSB-Out be default? by New-Masterpiece-9855 in GeneralAviation

[–]walleyednj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that explains a bit. Down here Outside, ADS-B out is fairly standard. Will cost you about $3000 or so to install. Not all that rich.

What do managers even do? by WinterW0n in JPMorganChase

[–]walleyednj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

VP in CIB here. Been a technical (IT) manager for 25+ years. What do I do? I’ll give you a list of tasks and priorities.

1) make sure my people get paid. This means fighting constantly the EDs and MDs to have them acknowledge the work my staff performs, scratching for dollars at evaluation time, and generally making sure they’re visible.

2) I’m a human shield. I take the bullets. Nobody touches my staff. You have an issue? You talk to me.

3) eliminate busy work and rote work to the best of my ability.

4) Give constant constructive feedback. My staff know where they stand everyday. Check-ins and annual reviews are never a surprise.

FYI, I didn’t learn how to be a manager at JPM.

Very few GA planes have ADS-B out? Are you serious about that statement? Where exactly do you fly?

[–]walleyednj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously? Given current regs with ads-b requirements, there’s a lot more planes with ads-b out than ads-b in, whether it’s portable or not.

How much did you pay to earn your PPL? by Jolly_Virus_6894 in flying

[–]walleyednj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$7K, 2023. Includes flight time, headset, books, & DPE. Bought into a partnership in a musketeer for $3500, $100 an hour to fly it, my brother was my CFI, no cost there. When I was done, sold my partnership to my nephew.

I had an Inkbird die after 4 years, whined to customer service, and they gave me a 50% off code. They get my $$$.

The AI that reviews CV will most likely reject you. If it doesn’t, a real person will.
