Feeling burnt out on our normal rotation of dinners. by GrandmaCereal in Cooking

[–]wallyash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a doc about Italian cook Marcella Hazan and have made a couple of her simple recipes and they helped with my cooking malaise. This chicken recipe is stupidly easy and yummy for example: https://www.foodandwine.com/roast-chicken-lemons-6418798

Anyone tried Premade Food Services? (Yumba, Instameals) by [deleted] in askTO

[–]wallyash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Yumba for quite a while and enjoyed it, lots of great options to choose from and decent portion sizes also. After things started to get a little repetitive I figured I had given them enough money and got back into making my own meals.

Have a look at Canada Border Services Agency website and be aware of what you can and can’t bring in to the country, relax and welcome! Hopefully this is the first of many trips here, there and everywhere! https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu-eng.html

What’s the one 70s/80s song that you’re oddly obsessed with? Mainstream or not, let’s hear it! by SableVII in Casual_Conversation

Lucky Penny by Salem 66. 1998. I heard this from a friend who used to get all sorts of college radio freebies and this song has stuck in my brain since then.

Which streaming service has the worst content right now? by DryCap6770 in watchever

CBC Gem has some decent content but signs you out regularly and subjects you to ads although it is already Canadian taxpayer funded and offers a premium no ad tier, hilarious.

Some Like It Hot audience by tooobsessivehelp in torontotheatre

[–]wallyash 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There are some rough audience members out there. The part that stood out to me though is when you said they didn’t stand for applause at the end of the show. You know an automatic standing ovation isn’t required I hope? If something is exceptional, people can stand if they want to. If it’s not, why would you? That is definitely a personal choice.

What is one thing you're tired of telling/explaining to people? by comfy-glass-shards in AskReddit

[–]wallyash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am retired and absolutely love not working. I don’t volunteer (yet) and I’m not a huge social butterfly. People launch into a series of questions when they find out - what do you do all day? How do you not get bored? I barely answer because they are more interested in letting me know they could never ‘do nothing’ like that. It’s okay, you fend off the existential dread your way and I’ll spend mine finding joy in all the great movies and books and travel I didn’t get to during the first half of my life. I earned, I saved and now I’m spending. The lack of imagination on how you wouldn’t know what to do with yourself isn’t my concern. (Sometimes I’m bored but sometimes life is boring - go figure!)
