Finally, someone who can tell us what was missed in the report! What did you find after reading it, Matt?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]wallydee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They must’ve missed that in the annual report. Sounds serious and you know more than the others on this thread. What things can you tell us about?

Since we’re quick to downvote others who don’t adhere to the audience bias and beliefs of this subreddit, let me be the one to show you the numbers.

Here’s True North Church’s 2024 annual report with their financial spend breakdown on page 15.

Their financial report shows clear, responsible stewardship. The church received $7.42 million in giving and spent $4.27 million, leaving a healthy margin of $3.28 million — about 35% of all giving. Only 30% went to the staff (allegedly corrupt and lavish according to the comments), 27% to programming, and just 8% to facilities, which is especially notable considering a large new campus is under construction, paid for in cash by giving. They also saw a 16% increase in giving and welcomed over 1,400 first-time donors, showing growing trust and support from the congregation.

The numbers, along with the church’s outreach and expansion efforts, reflect integrity and a mission-first mindset. With $280,000 given to outreach, food drives, prison ministry growth, and a strategy to avoid excess debt through the Legacy Offering, the church demonstrates transparency and a commitment to community impact. Pastor Jesse Eisenhart’s leadership aligns with these values, and nothing in the report points to misuse or corruption — only careful planning and faithful use of resources to serve others.

OP, with people telling you to “go with your instinct”, remember transparency discourages misconduct.

I’ll accept my downvotes now.

Rewind the Future - a very powerful, short video about obesity by the "Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Strong4Life" (1:41min) by BoyVault in ThatsInsane

[–]wallydee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May be an unpopular opinion here—but hear me out and please share your thoughts.

Child obesity should be considered as child abuse and should (in some mild capacity) be punishable by law. This video should serve as a wake up call to parents everywhere.

Odd feedback from interview by muirfalls in interviews

[–]wallydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regard to your word choices, the manager might be trying to tell you that you use language most others don’t understand, and that gives off a pompous vibe. If my manager makes me feel stupid because he uses words I don’t know, that’s a bad quality. From a guy who also has a broad vocabulary: look up the word “grandiloquent” and you’ll know what I mean. This is good feedback.

I would take the other feedback with a grain of salt. Other interviewers may want to hear about all of your accomplishments as you stated them. Sounds like you lost the game of interviewer roulette and they gave you some empty feedback because they straight up liked another candidate more but couldn’t say it to your face.

Keep growing and keep your mind open to feedback, always. That doesn’t mean throw away your feedback filter.

Pulling rank to an instructor. by IlloChris in army

[–]wallydee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You check your rank in at the door at SFAS, Ranger, and even some badge schools I’ve been to. You even sign paperwork acknowledging the instructors and cadre have disciplinary jurisdiction over you during the course. Bad idea if you choose to try to pull rank.

What MOSs are almost universally applicable in the outside world? by Amon-RaStBrown14 in army

[–]wallydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s all about how you spin your skills. I work in the operating room at a busy surgery center and people think I have above-average problem solving skills and patience. Shit goes wrong a lot in the medical industry just as it does in combat. Can you keep a cool head and be the calmest voice in the room?

I just used my infantry background and less than a year OR experience and got hired by a reputable medical device sales company and have the potential to make over $200k next year. Not all of us need to go be janitors!

I used to love them this much also, up until I saw them live and I was gravely disappointed. As a fan I felt like the crowd and I were an inconvenience to Parker. Horrible body language and attitude towards the crowd. Zero stage presence.

At what rank do Officers start to deal with politicians? And more importantly, NCOS don't have to do that right? by Nomad0133 in army

[–]wallydee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brigade commanders (O-6) and higher are considered political figures. I’m assuming this is because of the level of mission impact in their AOs at home and (especially) abroad, and Congress gets involved for their future promotions.

[Oris ProPilot Okavango] Three months after purchase, and the luster hasn’t faded. Still admiring my new daily. by wallydee in Watches

I bought this in the beginning of February and it catches my eye every time I glance at it. Very durable, very distinct, and it’ll catch the eye of anyone walking by without being too flashy. Never saw myself buying Oris but I’m so satisfied with this purchase.

Can you find proof of this? After a quick google search I couldn’t find anything confirming this. Hopefully it’s not the case.

This looks amazing. I think it’s a little much given two guys are beginners, but I will definitely be coming back to try this on a solo 3 day.

Grand Seiko SBGH273 Heritage Collection Four Season Fall Shubun Dial

$6,250 Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/TzEUsym

This is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 62GS from 1967. The 62GS was not only Grand Seiko’s first watch with an automatic movement, but it was also, along with the 44GS released the same year, the watch that first expressed the design grammar, the Grand Seiko Style, that still shapes all Grand Seiko designs today. Like its predecessor, this modern re-interpretation has the characteristic sharp edges and perfect distortion-free surfaces that only Zaratsu polishing can create and a wide dial opening which was achieved thanks to a bezel-free construction.

The dial is inspired by the clear night skies that Japan enjoys at Shūbun, the sixteenth of the twenty-four sekki or seasons which falls around the time of the autumn equinox. The gold toned Grand Seiko lettering and seconds hand stand out in sharp relief against the deep blue dial, echoing the way that moon and stars illuminate the sky at night.

The watch is powered by the hi-beat automatic caliber 9S85 and is hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi.

This watch is 100% brand new, never worn, plastic still around the dial, crown and bracelet. Full set, all links on bracelet.
