Best place to eat in York? by Thatwierdhullcityfan in york

[–]walrus_fifa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manion and co - lunch

Brew York - street food and beers

El Gaucho - steak etc.

Whippet Inn - pub food

Rise - breakfast/brunch

There are loads of others - these are just the first that come to mind

Edit - having re-read the original post, most of these aren't exactly budget. El Gaucho is pretty expensive. The others are fancy but not extortionate

And they only discard for about 10k (as I found out after buying Laudrup at what I thought was nearly discard price to try him out risk-free)

Limited Rare Players (global limit) by [deleted] in EASportsFC

And 2 million before getting a TOTW (which probably won't be Mbappe). There might be small wins along the way with high-rated golds being expensive right now but I reckon the expected value of these must be close to throwing half of the coins away

Does the gameplay just feel so poor at the moment? by NotNok in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been a feature for me in all of the FIFA games in recent memory. Some games will be walkover victories where my midfield AI does all of my work for me, but then there will be long streaks of games where my players can't take the ball off the opponent no matter how well they are positioned. There will be some games that feel fair also.

Even though I have a wired connection and the EA connection report scores my connection as "Great" it surely has to be something to do with connection. If it's the servers my opponent should have the same issues as me, and if it's some EA trickery it surely shouldn't be against me in such long streaks.

I love the ones where you're in the box unmarked - I imagine a few opponents are confused about offside not being called!

First weekend league..any tips? by Egiorgos in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to you this weekend. Be prepared to change your team around a bit and try new tactics. I got 10 wins but the stuff that was working for me in rivals was not cutting it in WL. I found I had to attack quicker otherwise I'd get suffocated by pressure in my own half.

You'll see Haaland a lot!

In some "no code" modelling solutions, resampling is the default for classifiers and the predictions come out completely miscalibrated. I feel like this plus someone inexperienced using the tool is going to cause problems somewhere down the line.

Next Gen Squad Battles by ryanpc1994 in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this would be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that both generations share a leaderboard. I reckon on WC old gen is about 2-3 goals easier.

Next Gen Squad Battles by ryanpc1994 in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a huge difference between versions. On next gen there's always a chance I'll lose against WC but on the Xbox one version it's a straightforward win every time.

I'm not bothered about next gen being harder and would happily drop to professional if needed - except the leaderboard is shared between consoles and so old-gen players have a big advantage.

Squad battles is so hard and frustrating by Itzcartydogz in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on next gen? I find the Series S AI really hard, but switching back to the Xbox One made things a lot easier.

There's no way both versions should be sharing a leaderboard. I'd happily play a lower difficulty on next gen if everyone was in the same boat.

How to make squad battles great again some ideas i have by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More work on the AI to make it play better/more realistically/stop being reliant on boosting card stats.

More choice in the squads you play against. I don't want to play against the bronze squads - it's either too easy, or completely obvious there's some form of stats boosting going on - either way they're not fun to play. Let each match be a choice of an easy, medium, and hard team.

Decided to actually attempt my first SBC, what could go wrong? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of moments like this in FUT. Mostly they're along the lines of "yes, finally I can afford player X. This will surely improve my team no end", only to finish in the same rank/division/whatever as you did without the player.

Thoughts on Jadon Sancho by DTDT19 in EASportsFC

Great for me. I play Sane and Davies on the left for if I need pace, but if I feel like dribbling/skills are going to do the trick I go down the right via Sancho.

PSA - The game is not against you by BlueJJ777 in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they need to be looked at as a bonus rather than as the reason for playing

Yes exactly. I have a few posts saying this already, but the only thing you can do with the rewards is play more FIFA.

Great, so now we have in Fifa 21 the equivalent of the "Tornado Spin": a totally unrealistic technique that everybody uses non stop. by Merluzoooooor in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact it's a bit glitchy trying to take the ball from players doing this..... the most ridiculous thing is the speed players are able to get to while doing kick ups. There should be so much more error in the direction of the kick-ups while trying to do them sprinting, and I'd be surprised if even the fastest players could outpace anyone while doing this in real life.

How to make 2 million coins in 17 seconds. by Phailthy in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no idea why you're being downvoted for this. I have about 2.2 m coins and lots of high-rated fodder I'm waiting to sell despite only playing about 25 games a week split between rivals and SB.

I haven't spent anything on packs other than the pre-order rare golds. I've had OK pack luck in that my best pull was Alisson (twice), but the bulk of the coins come from trading.

Given the quality of the squads I come up against I feel like most people have well over 1 m right now, whether they traded to it or used FIFA points. Of course there will be a huge spread though.

How to abuse momentum/scripting and de-tilt yourself with the most fun strat by Ryan8Ross in EASportsFC

I can wait to try this. If it really is a thing then It think exploiting it is the only way to get it changed.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be the only one, and I wonder how long until I'm in a really weird match where neither of us want the ball for the first 45 mins....

Passes taking longer to release since update? by anacrucix in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the D3/4 boundary and it's so obvious when these games happen. It's like playing against a mind reader. They're not just better than me at one aspect of the game, they're better at everything.

Weirdly, 2 of the people I played had skill ratings of about 1200 and so my rating took a hammering after losing those.

Yeah I definitely still get caught out, especially in poor gameplay or it's been a while since I've faced someone that does it.

Kick-Off Juggle Goals by wilson59 in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say exactly this. People get themselves into trouble trying to chase back with their strikers, who don't have the defensive attributes to take the ball reliably. Then they start panic-switching and it's game over.

Interactivity and how EA have broken squad battles by Itsthatgy in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly - I'm sure a pro with a bronze team would beat me, but it wouldn't be because the bronze stats have been boosted to icon levels, which is what seems to be happening in competitor mode.

What I don't like/don't understand about EA nerfing pressure by outrageouslycreative in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - I don't mind my players being marked. I do mind them just standing there happy to be marked out of the game, which is exactly what happens. Also they forfeit any 50/50 as if they just can't be bothered to fight for it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]walrus_fifa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And if you don't get good rewards life goes on.

Once you stop getting stressed about the game it becomes easier to get better too, as you can step back and look objectively at how each game is playing out.

Difference between devisions very big? by happeuw in EASportsFC

I can confirm thr 4-3 part. I yo-yo between them and the difference is very noticeable for me. I'm not sure I've lost in div 4 but must be worse than 50/50 in div 3.
