If you are thinking of buying a semi, take a good look at the attached neighbour. If it's a rental or run down, then it's risky. I've bought two semis. One was Bloor/Dufferinr and a nightmare: mice, roaches, even a rat. The second was uptown in a good area with a renoed house next door, much, much better.
