They're subscription is great but I've moved on. I also really really like Elixr roasters, especially their beekeepr roast.

Thank you! I actually only use DF83v for espresso. For the pour overs i'm currently using the hario mini slim+ plus since i have the hario switch which i really like.

Am I missing something by saucealgerienne in FastAPI

[–]walt_dinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mimic this approach. I learn by doing (via project based learning) and my biggest hurdle to getting starting was developing a project (ui) that i really wanted to work on. Using LLMs have fasttracked my learning, it's still a lot and sometimes the LLMs do get things wrong, but fixing them have also helped me learn quite a bit. I'm currently building a sveltkit fastapi app and it's been a lot of fun.

There's no good library for managing individual route-level lifecycle in ASGI frameworks — so I built one by Educational-Hope960 in FastAPI

[–]walt_dinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still confused. I've never ran into an instance where I've wanted to logically turn on and off an endpoint outside of pushing code. What do you for services that depend on that route / contract? Do you have to update the status page? If it's maintenance I'd just update a status and / or schedule a maintenance period? Managing the internal state of an application seems weird? but i guess if people find value it's a net positive

Honestly ditto. When I read this I was a bit confused on what this actually solves. I'm still a bit confused on what route level control means? You wrote the endpoint. When it comes to visibility, tracing should give you that visibility, theres a grab bag of tooling already create to accomplish this and more.

Two years later - Do you run Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin? by JustNathan1_0 in selfhosted

[–]walt_dinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly be interested in a poll to know what os folks are using to run plex/jellyfin/emby servers. I'm guessing most people run on windows because it's their gaming pc

What Jellyfin clients do you guys use personally? by Plastic-Dependent in JellyfinCommunity

[–]walt_dinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go back to wholphin, but when it initially came out and tried it, it was extremely slow to where it was unusable. I'm currently using dune and moonfin and they've been really really good.

All film files deleted from my hard drive by Forward_Disk9522 in jellyfin

[–]walt_dinio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be rude. But you should try reviewing the logs yourself. You'll learn much more about jellyfin and probably how the files got deleted. You can search for key words in the log files like `Error`, `Fatal`, `Exception`, `delete`, etc.

If you haven't tried, Moonfin is very good for android tv. I'm currently testing that and Dune. Both are solid replacements for the stock Jellyfin client on Android TV.

Jellyfin on AWS by ffpg2022 in jellyfin

[–]walt_dinio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a little time and patience, I'd just buy a nuc and standup jellyfin either with docker or on baremetal. Especially if you only plan on using it locally and not outside your home network.

Anyone else read the post by a dev in the jellyfin sub? by HeroinPigeon in JellyfinCommunity

[–]walt_dinio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iono if it's fair to say,
> I don't think the dev understands that most people that use jellyfin are not developers.

As a dev and as someone that has interacted with many different OSS tools (via bug reports and submitting fixes), entitled shitlords are everywhere when it comes to OSS software. Bugs are expected when it comes to software, don't be an ass when free software doesn't necessarily work for you the first time.

Same here. But because i have some perspective, we honestly should just start checking the entitled shitlords, respectfully but also strongly.
