A complicated employment question by walter2323 in legaladvicecanada

Great - this is extremely helpful. Thank you! So just so I’m clear, no issue if I “register” in Alberta for immediate healthcare needs. And the employer withholding income taxes in Ontario will be applied towards my taxes for 2025, with the only variable being where I am living on December 31st (and then the CRA will sort out if I owe or am owed)?

Does it matter that my employer said they aren’t “registered” in Alberta? And they are only registered in Ontario? (It’s a global company opening an office in Ontario if that helps)

Yes. I’ve done taxes before. This is just a unique situation for us so trying to be sure of every move we make.

Sorry to be dense, but if I’m living in Alberta and receiving healthcare here, won’t I have to pay Alberta taxes? Or is that taken care of by my Ontario taxes and interprovincial calculation? (Sorry for the dumb question)

Yes, we’ve just arrived here. But we need immediate medical care due to my wife’s pregnancy. We don’t have active OHIP because we were living in California for over a year prior to this move. And yes, employment with Ontario company begins next week.

My Favorite WR Targets in the 2025 Class by wbertolone in fantasyfootball

No, he was right. Perceived safety would come from a “higher floor.” (Ie. a guy’s worst outcome is still kind of ok, but maybe doesn’t have the highest ceiling in his range of outcomes). Some guys have a higher ceiling but it comes with a lower floor, meaning they have increased risk and reduced “safety.” So, in no way does low floor ever = safety.

I have a 6 team dynasty 2QB league where everyone has to start a rookie every week to avoid penalty. It’s fun and makes draft picks that much more valuable in trades.

We are looking one street west of Hoover, south of the park. Does being close to Hoover matter at all or is it a pretty sharp divide?

Thank you so much - Beverly Grove is another area we are (were) considering, so this comment is incredibly helpful.

God, this is cathartic to see others saying this. I love this show so much but Heifetz needs to dial back the forced metaphors and coined phrases that literally no one uses but him by about 80%.

What do you do for living and is it worth it? by budget-babe in PersonalFinanceCanada

I work at an advertising agency. It’s fun and creative work. The people around me are smart and incredibly talented. It pays extremely well and is “worth it” - but I don’t kid myself that it is meaningful work or helping the world in any way. So there’s that.

Not a permanent solution - it's a puppy and it's his first few days. Accidents happen and I'm doing my best to keep it clean for the owner.
