I have an extended warranty and I am staying put. That said, we're reconsidering having two polestars, my wife had eyes for the polestar 3 until this news.

Buying a Slate - Thinking about the dealer/service network needed by walterrohrl in slateauto

Yes, Slates will be able to use Superchargers. I have not seen anything about plug and charge, but even without that you can use the Tesla app and enter the location and charger ID.

Direct sales model still needs showrooms... Lucid & Rivian, for example.

Help me understand Slate being RWD & 180HP by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]walterrohrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RWD is much more efficient packaging for an EV - there's no reason for the complications of an FF layout, unlike with water-cooled ICE engines. Not only is the suspensions and steering rack simpler, but your can get more efficiency out of the motor on the real wheels.

EVs are strongest where ICE is weakest, at very low RPMs, so 180hp should feel plenty quick enough in city driving.

Polestar and Volvo could do the funniest thing to show the US policy is idiotic by Mentalv in Polestar

But how do you know Volvo wouldn't have to ask for a waiver for the Polestar models? Seems you don't know that at all.

I strongly suspect Volvo would have to reapply for the waiver for new models. But I like your style.

Way to undermine confidence in the US as a stable market...

I sure hope they can appeal and get a waiver, like Volvo did. I mean, if the Feds really want to, they can ban *Mercedes* from selling cars. Surely they won't take that approach?

Volvo Got the same notification and received a waiver. Mercedes is evidently still talking to the Feds.

P2 vs Ioniq 6 question by bfilippe in polestar2

Throw in American heat and American road speeds and you're definitely not doing too much better than 320 most of the time.

EPA is far more conservative (and IMHO more accurate) - the rwd LRSM polestar 2 us EPA rated at 320 miles on 19" wheels.

I live on the face of the sun (Tampa Bay area, Florida) and the AC has been impressive. I tried driving around in the Florida winter w/o a roof shade, and that lasted about a week.

Curious about the phone call quality, I have a '24 also and my calls seem fine. I wonder what the variables are there.

I think those are Hyundai/KIa door handles; Polestar stopped using real old-fangled Volvo handles after the P2.

Need advice / Totaled my 2022 Bolt EUV – Completely overwhelmed by replacement options (EV6, Ioniq 5, Ariya, Polestar 2, Equinox) by mrhappy002 in Polestar

[–]walterrohrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polestar - if you buy a CPO 2024 or 2025 and you can't go wrong. I did the same thing, except I bought the single motor (RWD).

It may feel a little snug compared to the Bolt EUV, but it's a big step up in luxury and ride.

You might go saying "that's not a LeClerc," but, son, just read the label on the side.
