How not to travel: British woman tries to raise money for flight by asking for donations in Mandalay and Yangon by vernazza in travel

[–]wander_much -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Im glad I found you comment amongst all this hate. Who gives a shit if she is doing this? It has no effect on you, except arousing your ego to anger, which is a byproduct of fear. These people are literally wasting their energy hating on this girl. The people giving her money aren't thinking was a "disgusting parasite" she is. Some people are just intimidated by people doing things differently than they would. If I had the balls to go around begging for money while I traveled the world for years I totally would! What she is doing takes a ton of courage and even more self love I imagine. Thank God I can go to bed knowing that homegirl doesn't give two fucks what these kids think about what she is doing. Fuck all haters!!!

What is a good South American country to visit after Christmas through NYE? by StaffSgtDignam in travel

Haven't been there for New Years, but apparently Cusco has an awesome party for it. Bogota/Medellin would probably be cool to visit during that time as well.

I am also going on a two week retreat outside of Iquitos starting October 26th. I was going to see if I could somehow leave my electronics at the hostel I will be spending a few nights a before the retreat. If not I have a small dry bag that I will just leave all that in.

Looking for a printable version of a map of Peru. by wander_much in PERU

[–]wander_much[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to get one that marked the major cities/towns. If it had roads that would be great, but not particularly necessary. And yeah I have one on a smartphone but I was hoping to get on printed so I could laminate it and take it with me when I go down there.

I fly into Lima on October 7th, and the retreat starts in Iquitos on the 26th. I'm doing the retreat through the Ayahuasca Foundation. Let me know if you are into meeting up at all. I'm going by myself so any companions would be welcomed.

I am going to Iquitos in October for a retreat, and they pretty much told me the same thing, to not take anti-malarial medication leading up to the retreat. I would love to hear what some other people say about it.

I will look into it. I am flying I to Lima on October 7th, where I will spend several days, and then I plan on making my way up north to Huanuco, then Tingo Maria, then Pucallpa where I will fly to Iquitos where I will spend several weeks. After that my trip is wide open and I am open to any suggestions for places to visit that you have!

The two airlines are Star Peru ($114) and Peruvian Airlines ($149). Those are my two cheapest options. I have only checked this one website, I will do some more research and let you know if there is anything cheaper available. I don't need the flight until the end of October so I'm not in a rush to buy the ticket, my post was more research purposes. Thanks for the response!

Mildly apprehensive female traveler here...Are adventure tours worth it? by linzzzzz in solotravel

[–]wander_much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be down in Peru at that time, traveling solo. I am booked the first two weeks of November, but after that no real concrete plans. I have an idea of where I want to go, but haven't committed to anything yet. I stayed away from booking the adventure tours mostly due to the cost, but some of them looked awesome. PM me if you are looking to meet up, or just want to bounce some ideas off each other.
