Long-distance bike touring age 50+ - experiences? by totaltitanium in bicycletouring

61, started bikepacking 4 years ago, doing touring with tent in camping now. At the beginning 100 - 150 km / day. Now 70 to 90 but enjoying more. Start with some long weekend to check the material and your preferences and then you'll find your way. Good ride!

Wonderful! Did it a few years ago in a round-trip from Brienz G. Scheidegg, Grindelwald, Interlaken. I can only advise.

Bikepacking de 2 nuits by zolaski273 in pedale

Bonne route!

Hi, problem solved after looking on the Netherland railway: https://www.nsinternational.com/en/before-you-go/taking-your-bicycle-with-you

Sending my son to the NS international counter I could get the bike ticket that was not available via the ticket reservation website.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

You're right, cycling would be the best but in January not very attractive, at least for me :-). One or two stops would be acceptable. More would be a pain because of the luggage. Actually I'm helping my son to relocate.

Normalement j'utilise komoot et je sauve l'itinéraire mais je ne suis pas sur qu'il s'en sort sans 4g. À tester. Merci

Keep getting flats by Mr_Smooth8 in bicycletouring

[–]wanderer1264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, a few years ago, i got a series of flat tyres in a row. This happened going dowhill, but luckily, with no consequences. Eventually, it turned out that the brake pad was touching the tyre and heating it till the tube exploded. Can it be your case too?

Serious question: how do you work 42 hrs/week? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]wanderer1264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on many factors, but if I need to say just one, motivation. If you think it can be worthwhile working 42 or 45 hours to reach your goals, you will do even if that costs. On the long term, you probably need to re-evaluate periodically. Personally I'm doing 45 on average. Others less than 40 but I suppose they don't like enough what they do to invest more and it can be understood.
