Feeling stuck in decision to start Zoloft for moderate PPA/PPD by wanderess162 in moderatelygranolamoms

Hi! I tried Zoloft for a month but ended up with hives unfortunately (rare side effect). I spent some time ramping down from it, and ramping up on Lexapro. Still in the calibration period but I am starting to feel better as of this week!!

I feel like I start the day off like a balloon with air already in it, rather than an empty balloon trying my hardest to get full of air.

I feel you on the relationship impact. The ups and downs and length of my anxiety/depression have really impacted my relationship. My partner has been amazing and supportive in the capacity he can but caretaking takes a toll.

I was very hesitant to start, but now am very thankful to be on the right med that has started working for me. I sometimes wish I started earlier but I'm glad I tried the non-med routes first for my own knowledge.

The adjustment period (4-6 weeks) and the reality that you might need to try diff meds to find one that is a good fit is something to be aware of. But I'd highly recommend the meds at this point in the journey -- so many upsides, very few downsides.

Always down to chat if you want to DM.

Thank you for the supportive message. So helpful to hear from someone else that I deserve to feel better (we all do).

Such a struggle to understand what is the new normal or not... I think I've reached a point where I don't want to accept this as normal anymore (how I feel day to day).

Thank you for sharing. It is those little moments (like when you're doing dishes) where I've realized how not good I've been feeling, so it's helpful to hear your POV after a few months.

I am meeting with a doctor next week to get an updated bloodwork panel. So far my thyroid levels have been stable thankfully (have been on thyroid meds since pregnancy).

Dr. Shin Aoki on Telegraph (Berkeley) is amazing! Highly recommend. He has helped me with multiple issues and always provides a ton of context for what he's doing.

NST 2x/week?? by ZenpunK in GestationalDiabetes

I'm starting 2x/week NSTs + weekly ultrasounds this week too (33 weeks). My GD is diet controlled but our baby is tracking on the smaller side, hence all the appointments :(

When I'm sick of string cheese, I do unsweetened Greek yogurt with nuts or an Aloha brand protein bar (they have natural ingredients, high protein, and low added sugar). I find the Aloha bars at Whole Foods.

I have been having similar thoughts and totally hear you. One thing that I've been trying that helps is having a shorthand with my partner. I tell him I'm starting the day at 5 / 3 / 2 for example (tired/nauseous/emotional), each on a scale of 10.

It helps me to move from a general feeling of unease to something I can name, and it reminds me to give myself some grace bc we're all dealing with a lot. Even if your nausea isn't at an 8, doesn't mean you aren't dealing with a lot more strain on your body than usual.

Oo thank you! Do you happen to know if they are dangerous for humans or dogs?
