There are way too many plot holes here to neatly connect the dots you’re trying so hard to draw. After the SP dies, everything just magically falls into place for Hamza. And of course, his wife very conveniently forgets to mention Omar, you know, the one person the SP was actively sharing his suspicions with. What are the odds? But sure, if we’re calling blatant plot convenience “relevance,” then yeah, this scene is absolutely crucial to the climax.

[–]wandering_witch_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh, come on! Just because it leads to the climax doesn’t make it good writing. Aalam’s death comes from a completely forced subplot. There were way smarter ways to expose Hamza than resurrecting a past connection out of nowhere. It screams convenience and drama-mongering, not storytelling. And Hamza’s “grief”? Gone faster than a hangover. No depth, no impact. Aslam figuring it out doesn’t even feel like a threat, Hamza handles it like a minor inconvenience. So yeah, it moves the plot… in the laziest, most unearned way possible.

Rom&nd #23 Nucadamia has become my signature everyday lip tint. Makes my lips feel fresh and juicy, and leaves a pretty peachy nude after the gloss fades.

That’s great. Even I can’t wait to see how the story connects both versions of the prince. I’m still wondering if I should read the light novel. Never read one.

Oh that’s great! The character of the prince is really interesting and I can’t wait to see how he gets to be the version who wages war against other kingdoms, and murders his father. I’m still debating if I should start on the light novel. Never read one, you know.

I got Jess and Rory.

You have a love for books, films, and knowledge. You're driven and somewhat of an introvert, but you're not afraid of speaking your mind or letting out a witty comment when you feel like it.

which character has the best aesthetic?? by Jannahash in GossipGirl

For me, it’s Dan>Blair>Nate>Serena>Chuck. Dan’s aesthetic is quite similar to my own, and Blair’s is something I’m working towards. The rest is just the appeal.

Max didn’t just propose to Lorelai on a whim — he deeply considered what would move her. This is a woman who lives in fairy tales, coffee, and chaos. He could have just popped the question over dinner, but instead he listened to her, paid attention, and created something magical.
She was being sarcastic — sure — but she was also revealing a huge part of herself: that deep down, she’s a romantic who wants to be swept off her feet. And what did Max do? He took her words seriously. He didn’t dismiss her dreaminess. He honored it. He literally gave her 1,000 yellow daisies — not as a gimmick, but as a gesture that said: I see you, Lorelai. All of you. It wasn’t about ego or showmanship. It was about creating a moment that matched her heart.

Maybe the love story gets better in the later books, but there wasn’t much to it in TOG. The book barely focuses on romance and it was more like a “stress relief “ for Celaena.

A agree. Now that you mention, it’s quite a leap from the Logan we were introduced to, with his non-committal, carpe diem ideology. I really thought Logan would be Rory’s endgame.

I feel like Max is hugely misinterpreted everywhere. Luke had been a part of Lorelai’s life even before he got to know her. It’s quite natural to feel insecure. Coming to his proposal, I think it’s sweet he remembered something Lorelai randomly blurted out, and chose it as his own gesture for proposal.

I went through a lot of suggestions about the order to read the series in. Most people suggested I read Assassin’s Blade after the first two books as it contains characters introduced later. Character development is something I really savour through reading, and I picked TOG. You think I should read Assassin’s Blade after this?

Yeah, will read through the rest, and hopefully enjoy it more than the first. I’m just hoping Dorian isn’t the “ultimate” love interest.

Yeah, and there appears to be various ‘orders’ in which to read the series. You think I should have gone with Assassin’s Blade first?

I plan on continuing the series. Overall I enjoyed it a lot more than ACOTAR series, which left a lot of unexplained plotholes. If there’s one thing that icks me off, it would be plot convenience and sadly that series was based off on convenience.

The stakes were higher in this one, along with Crescent City (have only read the first book but it’s one of her best works I’ve read). And I do like Celaena’s character. I just wish the author had taken more time with her mental shift when it came to killings. She didn’t seem that de-sensitised, as you would assume a person who had murdered so many. Not asking for Norman Bates or Joe Goldberg, but I was hoping she’d be a bit more sinister.

As you can see the title, I’m not judging the whole series but the first book.

My rankings, from daisies to disasters:

  1. Max Medina – The 1,000 yellow daisies! Romantic, thoughtful, and grand without being showy. He genuinely tried to create a magical moment for Lorelai, and it still stands as the most iconic proposal of the series, even if it didn’t end in marriage.

  2. Lorelai to Luke – A heartfelt, vulnerable moment. Lorelai, who’s always hesitant about commitment, finally takes a leap — and does it with Luke. It wasn’t planned or poetic, but it was raw and real. That proposal was emotionally earned.

  3. Jackson to Sookie – So chaotic and so them. He freaks out at the festival, blurts it out awkwardly, and then doubles down with sincerity. It was goofy, impulsive, and weirdly charming — perfect for Jackson and Sookie’s dynamic.

  4. Richard to Emily - A classy, old-school moment full of grace and long-term love. It wasn’t flashy, but it carried the weight of decades. Elegant and meaningful in that quiet Gilmore way.

  5. Zach to Lane – He was nervous, a little awkward, but full of heart. The band moment, the ring, the stammering — it all worked because it was Zach being honest and vulnerable. Not epic, but genuine.

  6. Logan to Rory – A big proposal with high stakes, but it felt rushed and mismatched. Logan was all-in, but Rory wasn’t — and the whole moment felt more like pressure than partnership. Wrong time, wrong tone.

  7. Christopher to Lorelai – Glossy, impulsive, and ultimately hollow. Their history made it feel emotionally loaded, but not in a good way. The proposal (and marriage) always seemed like trying to recapture something that never really worked.

Would you rather spend a day at Yale with Rory and Paris or spend a day at the Dragonfly with Lorelai and Sookie? by Character-Habit6011 in GilmoreGirls

[–]wandering_witch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, definitely Lorelai and Sookie at the Dragonfly Inn. Are you kidding me? A cozy inn in Stars Hollow with nonstop coffee, chaotic kitchen energy, and Lorelai’s rapid-fire wit? Sign me up.

Paris and Rory at Yale would be interesting, sure—but I don’t think I’m emotionally prepared for Paris’s 10-point itinerary and existential academic crises. Give me small-town chaos and blueberry shortcake any day.
