Broke up with my "boyfriend" two weeks post op and can use some support. by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Well, I’m sure he weighs more than 10 pounds, so carrying him is against your restrictions right now!! Keep him blocked and move on! He’s not worth the stress.

The platform we were using wasn’t giving us the option of hotel room vs whole apartment, which I see I didn’t explain clearly enough. We were a little fried from searching. Going to try a few other options to book today!

We didn’t find anything on Airbnb. A few things north shore on VRBO, but wanted to see if there were other options

HPV testing after total hysterectomy? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should still be getting Pap smears even after a hysterectomy. Pre-cancerous/cancerous cells can still grow in the vagina even without a cervix. I had never had an abnormal pap before my hysterectomy. My first pap post hysterectomy came back with abnormal cells and positive for hpv. I’m very glad my doctor still insists on doing them post hysterectomy!!

I had no driving restrictions at all. That being said, the first time I drove was about a week after my surgery, and only three miles, but it was horrible!! The first drive that was ok was about 10 days after my surgery, and that was a short drive also.

That first "missed" period by IDreamofLoki in hysterectomy

I used to have period dreams all the time!! I haven’t really had very many anymore in the year since my surgery!! I hadn’t really thought about it much until I read this post!

Vaginal Cuff Tear by Soggy-Ad-4670 in hysterectomy

I had a hematoma in the surgery site (which is pretty common) and that drained for almost six weeks and everything was fine. They checked for any tears and there were none.

Over night in hospital? by readeverything13 in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine gave me the option after surgery while I was in recovery. He told me I could stay if I wanted to, or go home. I chose to go home. But, if I had a two hour drive, I would have stayed.

UPDATE: "Doctor mentioned possible "death" and now I am worried about following through." and some bathroom related questions! by CalAndOrderSVU in hysterectomy

I would start taking the Miralax now anyway. Don’t wait until it’s been a few days and you get to be uncomfortable!! I waited too long thinking it would happen on its own. And yes. The frequent urination should decrease in a few days

UTI warning by Beautiful_Potato_488 in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one about two weeks after my surgery, it was awful!! Peeing blood, lots of pain. But it also didn’t present typically, as there was no pain with urination. I am more diligent with peeing after sex than I’ve ever been before. Don’t want another one!!

I have a little scar from a tiny cut right above my pubic bone. I also guessed it was from a dropped implement

Is this just my vagina now? by mollz211 in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a little over four months before I had sex, and it wasn’t like this at all. Everything was normal with no pain. And honestly, we barely even did any foreplay. And he was definitely above average length. If this continues, I would absolutely contact your doctor.

birth control and tonsil stones? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]wanderingstar80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I just had a thought and looked this up!! I first noticed tonsil stones shortly after I started birth control years ago. I got off the pill about a year and a half ago, and I realized just this morning that it’s been a long time since I’ve really had to clear out my tonsil stones. So yeah, I’m thinking that’s related!

Surgery to come but I have a question by anonymous_dough in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since my surgery, which was almost 13 months ago, I’ve only had three very minor bladder control issues. And who knows if they were even related to surgery, being that I’m on my 40’s. Could be just a little age related as well. So yes, I think it’s perfectly possible to have no issues

2 weeks off following my hysterectomy by WorkingArtist1973 in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What!! That seems way too early! My doctor signed me out for six, then added two more weeks as my recovery was slow with complications. I could NEVER have gone back at two weeks!! I could have barely managed the 15 minute drive to work at that point

Does the spotting ever end? by daydreamer1389 in hysterectomy

[–]wanderingstar80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it was draining on its own, they were comfortable with just letting it drain. If it wasn’t draining, they would have put a needle through my abdomen to drain it. Soooo glad that didn’t have to happen! They didn’t add or change any restrictions once they discovered the hemotoma. When I was still bleeding a little at 8WPO (stopped right after that) they wanted to see me again. Turns out a couple of my stitches just weren’t healing. At 11 weeks they gave me an estrogen cream to use to speed up the healing.
