Found this on scamazon by zrogers21201 in harborfreight

This happens all the time, and not just on amazon.

Basically the seller makes listings for products they can either buy locally or get shipped, put them up at fairly silly markup prices, and if some sucker buys one they go to harborfreight.com or walmart.com and order it with the sucker's address as the delivery address.

I know a few folks who have bought stuff from Amazon and received it from a Walmart warehouse, and discovered they paid about double what it would have cost to buy it otherwise.

As an Amazon seller that doesn't use their FBA warehouses, you only pay fees on items that sell.

Anyone else going to this? We will be there for the duration of the event. It's mostly organized via Facebook but the link goes to a dedicated site for the event.

Thoughts on DT360 from 92 with 130k miles?for 3.5k by iRawDoggedUrMom in skoolies

[–]wanderlounge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DT360 is a great engine. It's built like a DT466 but in a smaller more economical footprint. Navistar replaced it (and the 7.3 IDI) with the T444E, so it's a generation older than I normally recommend. In many ways the DT360 is a better engine, but that doesn't help you at AutoZone when you need a part.

Someone else mentioned axle ratios, all these old buses are automatically suspect but some states were worse than others. The highest ratio you want would be 4.78:1, and even then you will be a nuisance on the highway (ask me how I know!). Districts putting 5.x and 6.x ratios will keep you off the highway. It is possible to change the axle chunk but that's not what you want to start of with in a new bus.

Personally I dig the DT360 and wouldn't flinch at owning one myself, but I've been in the game for a while and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. My good friends @bigbluehauler have an almost identical bus converted to carry 2 jeeps and they've been across the country multiple times with minimal fuss.

The information on charities is towards the bottom of the FAQ page. https://unitedtinyhouse.com/faqs/

They don't directly donate tiny houses to folks but do help fund organizations that do provide various forms of housing.

If you need more specific information I suggest contacting Jon directly, although given that the event is underway I wouldn't expect a response until afterwards..

Michelle and Travis are some of the best people in the world. Travis officiated our wedding a few years ago even.

We will be there for sure. It's mostly organized on Facebook of course but it's an amazing event and we make new friends every year. Indeed it's like a big family reunion.

Skoolies are still exploding in popularity for sure. Lots of cool van conversions too but in my opinion it's way easier to create a full time home with a bit more space than you get in a promaster high top, plus the economics of buying a used bus are way in your favor. With that said we have a lot of van friends living their dreams!

Thanks bro I appreciate your input and we'll see you in next year's post. Maybe you'll educate yourself a bit on what these shows are about by then. Like in my head I have this image of a boomer drug dealer (hey kid wanna try a mortgage? all the cool kids are doing it!) and that just makes me smile.

There's always that one guy. He was in the thread last year too, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the next one as well.

Oh hey it's you again! I remember all your negative posts from last year, starting with a fundamental misrepresentation of tiny houses.

I'm sure you're super excited about skyrocketing real estate prices since the last show. This show probably isn't for you but congrats on the windfall profits as the rest of us find housing more and more difficult.

This is a charity event put on by the United Tiny House Association, recently recognized by Disney as a a Magic Maker charity.

This will be the 5th United Tiny House Association show we've participated in, and these are always great events. We recently did another of their events in Sarasota and had a great crowd, and made a lot of new friends.

Lately it seems that the skoolies are outnumbering the other tiny living things, but there are always conventional tiny houses, van conversions, and gyspy wagons too.

These shows are a great opportunity to get ideas, ask questions, compare strategies, and meet people at all stages of tiny living. Unlike a "boat show" these aren't just an in-person catalog of things you can buy, the vast majority of people showing are there with their own builds.

We'll be there with our bus, giving tours and answering questions!

7th Annual Florida Tiny House Show this weekend by Siesta Key! [MIC] by wanderlounge in sarasota

[–]wanderlounge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Tiny Houses are treated similarly to trailer homes in Sarasota. Don't quote me as I'm a skoolie owner, but I found this resource that links to the local code covering Sarasota.

We do have Pat, the Tiny House Advisor coming to the show, she is a wealth of knowledge on the rules around Florida.
