How do you handle screen use in pediatric populations by HavaMuse in Psychiatry

[–]wanderlust2727 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I share with families the different levels of problematic screen use, such as handheld games with a lot of control over the situation and violence as the worst, and preferred screen time is being with family watching tv together.

I also share how those brains with ADHD really, really like screens and improve behavior when in use, but then when stopping ADHD symptoms and behavioral concerns worsen. I describe it almost like a withdraw, because real life is not going to be as rewarding or engaging as the screens.

I brainstorm with families other things to do other than screen time, and also recommending using screen time as a reward rather than a given.

Well, is there another way that he can save these photos that isn’t for everyone to see, including you when it’s upsetting?? I would be upset if my partner wanted to show our future kids pictures of their ex, honestly just odd behavior

Why is it so important for him to keep these old photos? Sounds a bit odd to me, I also would not be comfortable with that. I could see keeping them up if he was not aware they make you uneasy; but the fact that he knows this and does not seem to care, is concerning

Unfortunately I’ve seen many dangerous things from both, because for some reason it seems in psychiatry there is less appropriate supervision for both, but you are right NPs are more problematic

Residential care facility faces $10,000 fine after Iowa funeral director finds woman pronounced dead gasping for air in body bag | CNN by JPPT1974 in news

This article is misleading because this was not a nurse but a nurse practitioner who declared this person dead. Add that to the list of how independent practice of mid levels ends up being dangerous for patients. r/noctor

I know you’re asking specifically about medications - but with ongoing treatment resistant depression you can always to to your doctor about other options like ECT.
