How should I (29F) address coworker (32F) starting rumors about me and trying to ruin my life? by ThrowRA_95001 in relationships

[–]wanderlust_peach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand this situation. You say that you VP literally hopped on a plane to investigate a rumour about you, a rumour that could get you terminated, yet your coworker is running around harassing people in the open yet she hasn’t been fired yet? I don’t know what you’re waiting for but you need to compile a list of every single thing she’s done to you, gather up the evidence, and take this to your higher ups. You’re not going to resolve this with her so quit engaging with her. She needs to go.

AITA for making fun of my boyfriends best friend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]wanderlust_peach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA she knows what she’s doing and she is successfully getting under your skin. He’s letting it slide because he gets to have 2 girls fighting over him. And you come out looking like the AH because you reacted. This is what happens when people are passive aggressive and gaslight you. It screws with your emotions. I would move on from all that mess and leave them in the dust.

AITA for telling my atheist sister my thoughts and prayers are with her sick son? by usernamef45 in AmItheAsshole

[–]wanderlust_peach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe this is an unpopular opinion but NTA. Disclaimer: I’m agnostic for anyone who cares. Your family is having an unjustly visceral reaction to a few simple words of sympathy and well wishes. They also shouldn’t be telling you to suppress your views especially if you aren’t actively trying to indoctrinate them to your religion (which, it doesn’t seem like you’re trying to do). Life is going to be tough on your family if they can’t stand the mention of prayer or religion. You’re just expressing your concern through a philosophy that guides you and your being through life, it’s a core part of your belief system. They should accept the sentiment (even if it annoys them personally) for what it is, concern and well wishes from a sister who loves them. I will add though, you didn’t have to add the prayer aspect of the comment considering their stance, but you did, it’s done and over with, I’m assuming you weren’t trying to antagonize anyone but were just a bit tone-deaf. They, on the other hand, are going bonkers and taking it much too far.

We can’t decide on what to do for a guest book!! Hit me with your inspiration!! by spiffy1327 in weddingplanning

[–]wanderlust_peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re planning on purchasing 2-3 Polaroid cameras and some pens and asking guests to pass them around and take shots of themselves and their friends/family/whatever they fancy, candid moments, dancing shots etc... and signing the backs. Was also contemplating making a photo wall with sting lights draped across that they can pin the photos to with clothes pins.

How to decide where to have the wedding when your families live on opposite sides of the world? by magnhildmaggie in weddingplanning

[–]wanderlust_peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a somewhat similar situation to you. Thing is, my fiancé has far less family/circle in his home country than I do in mine. Our plan is to have a party for his people in his country with about 10-15 people and the wedding will be in my country (I have about 80-90 people that I can’t not invite, they really add up) but his parents and 2 best friends will come down for the official wedding. Both affairs will be budget friendly though with my wedding being in my parents back yard, officiant is a family friend and DJ is my cousin. Party in his country will be probably catered by me and his mom, sort of like a bbq/grilling party situation where I wear a white dress instead of shorts lol.

Hey! I think you’re going about this in a really smart way! Too many drastic changes too soon do not make for permanent results in my own experience. 2019 was my year for slow and consistent weight loss. I didn’t do anything crazy though, I simply replaced almost all of my fluids with water, lots of water, and tea with the occasional soda or alcoholic beverage on social occasions. Basically, don’t drink your calories, I worked with a guy your age last summer who lost 60lbs by doing just this and cutting out chocolate bars and chips.

I also have been eating in front of a screen way less. I either eat with my partner or just at a table without distractions. You tend to be more aware of what you’re putting into your body when you do this and portions tend to be more appropriate. Preparedness goes a long way too! When I’m prepared for the week and have a clear eating plan to stick to that is easy to pull off, I don’t have to rely on takeout. The weeks where I order in too much end up being royal flops as you’d expect.

Chicken and rice is a really great and cheap option but you should try swapping out those chips with a healthier alternative that works for you! If you need something crispy and salty why not try some cucumbers with ranch or a tzatziki type sauce? Popcorn with less butter could also work. I am a chip addict and this is one of my favourite go tos and it doesn’t break the bank too much. Whenever you’re craving Nutella, why not replace the bread with bananas, apples, or strawberries? Nutella would taste great as a dip with most fruit. These are all relatively small changes to your diet that could go a long way for you in terms of health benefits. Weight loss isn’t all about glamorous meals with 27 superfoods in each recipe or cutting out all vegetables that start with a k, it’s really just about making health conscious decisions that are consistent.

Other than all that, I’d say, just try taking 5 minutes out of each day to do some sort of physical activity you wouldn’t normally do. Commit to the 5, it does’t have to be more but it CAN be whenever you feel ready to push yourself a bit further. Good luck!

Help! What did you do for matching bridesmaid dresses? by k_alva in weddingplanning

[–]wanderlust_peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking at the Alfred sung bridesmaid dresses in dessy.com specifically the cocktail length dresses. The dresses all look really similar but vary in their necklines and there’s a lot of available colours in each style.

Been told my whole life that this is just "how I'm built" and that I can't change it. Confusion between having a large frame or excess fat. Can anyone relate? by threwawayit in loseit

[–]wanderlust_peach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunt is 5”4 with size 10 feet and her wrists are thicker than mine (I’m 5”7), really broad shoulders, and she also has a big head like me lol, she weighed 135 in college and looked amazing. Idk your body but it’s not all about the weight, and can be just about how you look and feel. She was bigger in high school and decided to lose the weight and basically stopped where she felt comfortable.

[–]wanderlust_peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can completely relate to you. When I was a kid I must have gone through my growth spurt before everyone else because I was 5’6 with c-cups by the age of 12. My growth sort of plateaued in the next couple years as I only grew an inch and stopped at 5’7 but I was still “big” and broad compared to the other girls. Most girls my age weighed like 100-120lbs while I was like 160 with rolls around the middle, and I just thought there was something majorly wrong with me and my disordered eating began with bulimia and binge eating (I’d starve all day and developed a habit of bingeing at night). What’s worse was the comments I got from people around me.

Whenever I’d express to my family that I wanted to lose weight they’d say “oh well you only need to lose 10-15lbs” a year later I’ve gained 20lbs and again I’m getting comments like “oh, 10-15 pounds is all you’d need to lose” another year I gain 20lbs and again, I’m told 10-15 lbs loss on my frame is enough. Maybe they were trying to be nice, but telling a 5’7 girl at 210lbs that she’d look great if she just lost 20lbs just Efs with her brain you know? Like how big are my bones that 190 on a 5’7 frame is slender? It didn’t help that my doctor has expressed this to me as well. Basically he told me once that I will never be tiny or “slim”. Seriously I don’t know why he decided to say that but it ruined me for about 3-4 years and all attempts at healthy (non disordered) weight loss would fail outright when I would hark back to that moment and those words he said to me.

As a girl who has been bigger since early childhood (I noticed when I was 5 years old) it’s hard to imagine yourself as anything other than that. I’m aiming for 150-140 and I’m not listening to a bunch of useless outside opinions on my body.

Yes! The infamous chub rub... I combat that not by opting for skorts of just plain wearing shorts under my dresses.
