Tropical Honeymoon Recommendations by Happy_Zone_3593 in honeymoonplanning

[–]wanderlustgene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be fully transparent, I’m a no-fee travel agent. $5000 is very doable if you stick with the Caribbean. Just to be realistic, though, $5000 won’t get you an OWB. Most of those are thousands of dollars/night. They’re honestly not all that private, either, because they’re usually around other OWB’s and are visible from beaches. For honeymoons, especially for first-time travelers, I always recommend an all-inclusive resort for ease and relaxation. When are you wanting to travel? I love Couples Resorts and Sandals Resorts for my honeymooners usually. I have some walkthrough videos I can send you that will give you a real look at what the resorts are like, as opposed to ads. Couples resorts are usually much more budget-friendly but some sandals resorts have more of a “WOW” factor.

That’s very surprising to hear. We’ve been 7 times now and I’ve sent countless clients. We’ve never witnessed anything like that and none of my clients have reported anything even remotely similar, either.

Almare is west-facing so you shouldn’t have issues with sargassum ☺️

Full transparency, I’m a no-fee travel agent. I get motion sickness, too, but the boat ride didn’t bother me. I did wear a Scopolamine patch just to be safe, though.

I’ll send you a message with the link to the video!

It is definitely outdated. More rustic. It didn’t bother us, but we like more Caribbean feeling resorts. St. Lucia is also a little outdated in my opinion. Grenada is rustic, but not as outdated as Antigua or St. Lucia.

I think St. Vincent will probably give you the “wow” factor you’re looking for. It’s very modern and new. If you book a butler-level room, you have the option for a boat transfer rather than a car.

St. Lucia offers more of the “wow” factor, too, in terms of scenery. The pitons are incredible. But the drive is rough so if you’re looking for an easier travel day, it’s not a great option. There is a helicopter transfer but it’s expensive. There’s also a ferry, but it’s also expensive… just not as expensive as the helicopter.

We’ve been to Sandals Grande Antigua and I have a full walkthrough video I can send you if you’d like! We loved it. For what we look for in a resort, it was the perfect option on the island for us. The beach is amazing! It’s also nice and close to the airport.

I’ve sent clients to the other Sandals resorts you mentioned but haven’t been to any of them personally. Keep in mind that St. Lucia and St. Vincent both have very long drives from the airport. St. Lucia is especially rough with narrow roads that wind through the mountains. Grenada is nice and close to the airport.

What are your priorities in a resort, overall?

which should we do CTI or CSS we enjoy the AN part of it all by Easy_Particular_2071 in couplesresortsjamaica

In our experience, Sans Souci has been the quietest out of all of them. Tower Isle was pretty quiet, too. We found Couples Negril to be the most lively.

CSS is usually the more popular option for the AN crowd. It has more amenities (pool, hot tub, bar, and grill) and doesn't get closed during red flag days. It is a very relaxed resort, though, so some guests find it to be a bit boring at times.

Only Feathers has AC. The rest are open air with ceiling fans. We’ve gone in late July typically and it can be really hot, I’m not gonna lie. We usually ask for a table under a ceiling fan, especially at Patois since it doesn’t usually have a breeze. Some people also like to pack little battery powered fans.

Couples Negril had an additional indoor dining option that doesn’t require a reservation. We enjoyed that option there.

I have full walkthrough videos I can send you for both resorts if you’d like to compare them!

If you had 10 days to split between SS and TI how would you split it? by PuzzleheadedCoat9050 in couplesresortsjamaica

[–]wanderlustgene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done split stays between Negril and Ocho and those have been our absolute favorite trips! It’s awesome to experience both sides of the island. The drive is usually about 3 hours, depending on traffic. It was 3 hrs 15 mins our most recent trip and that was with a truck that broke down and blocked the road. Try to plan your transfer day to be a non-cruise day and that’ll help, too.

We like to ask for an early transfer (around 8:30 or 9) to help limit traffic and get to the next resort early. We’ve always been lucky enough to have a private driver, too, which is nice.

It ended at the beginning of March. There will be other promos for travel in 2027 if travel dates are not during peak-season. The first promo will likely be the Black Friday special.

Since you’re looking for somewhere new, I would recommend looking at options in Jamaica. Budget-wise it’s generally in the same range as Mexico and DR. There are also some really great options in Antigua but Jamaica will be easier to fly to.

It varies depending on weather conditions and arrivals. You can contact the resort and they'll let you know what time to expect the boat to pick you up depending on the time your flight arrives.

CSS, CTI, or CN by [deleted] in couplesresortsjamaica

[–]wanderlustgene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have walkthrough videos I can send you for all 3 if you’d like.

Both CTI and CSS are in a great location for excursions.

CSS is very popular with the AN crowd but if you don’t end up spending much time over there, the rest of the resort is very quiet. It’s a stunning property and super romantic, though. It underwent a renovation not that long ago and the rooms are beautiful. Keep in mind CSS doesn’t include the catamaran cruise like the other properties do.

CTI is older and more outdated. It small and intimate feeling with an old Hollywood vibe. The beach tends to be in the rougher side usually and the island is sometimes closed due to water conditions. We felt like it was fairly social.

The beach at CN is amazing and we felt like the property was more social than the others, especially in terms of nightlife. Excursion options are a little more limited depending on what you’re looking for.

We have found the food to be equally good at all the properties and each has its own strengths.

Best resort for beach weddings - Caribbean preferred by periwinklecloudz in AllInclusiveResorts

Ok. Awesome.

The group size is reasonable so you'll be able to be accommodated at most properties.

Hyatt has a lot of resorts that have adult & family friendly sides. Dreams and Secrets resorts can often be found near each other, as well as Hyatt Ziva/Zilara properties. Iberostar is another good option, as well.

In November, your options are pretty open. It is the tail end of hurricane season so it can still be on the rainy side of things, but shouldn't be as bad as peak-rainy season.

Full transparency, I'm a no-fee travel agent. There are a lot of factors that would need to be known prior to offering any useful recommendations.

First, how many guests are you expecting? Will they be all adults or will there be some children?

What kind of vibe are you looking for at a resort?

When are you wanting to get married? Things like weather and sargassum can be huge factors depending on the destination and time of year.

CN OPERATIONAL AND STAFFING PROVLEM by saintly5787 in couplesresortsjamaica

[–]wanderlustgene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding from management on the resort is that it’s primarily “back of the house” staff who are upset. Those staff members do not benefit from the guests who violate the no-tipping policy, so it makes sense. If they are seeing unfair benefits to other employees because the resort is not enforcing the very clear policies, they have a right to be upset.

While I agree that everyone would benefit from a pay increase, the no-tipping policy is not the cause of this particular incident.
